A great tasting juice for a great price

Prior to becom6ing pregnant, I rarely drank orange juice, unless I was out somewhere for breakfast. However, as my pregnancy continues I find that I often suffer from constipation, which from what I have read and heard from others is a common niggle during pregnancy. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of water, and will only drink it when it is either ice cold or diluted, and even then I find it hard to drink a lot of it. So, after a suggestion by a family member that I try drinking some orange juice to get my system flowing well and reduce the constipation, I was willing to give it a go.

Now, my husband always has the pure fresh orange juice for breakfast, but he loves his juice with the 'bits' in it - which I hate. Now, I know you can buy fresh orange juice as smooth now, without the bits, but buying the fresh orange juice to have for me simply to drink during the day, would mean we would be going through a lot of orange juice, and the fresh juice is not particularly cheap when you are drinking it all the time. So, when I spotted this Tesco discount branded orange juice by Sungrown for a very very reasonable 56p or a 1 litre carton, I had nothing to lose by giving it a go.

This smooth orange juice is from concentrate, which is always cheaper than the fresh orange juice, but it is even cheaper than the tesco value concentrated orange juice, as well as their own branded one. I had previously tried some of the other juices from the Sungrown range and been very impressed, despite it being a discount brand.

The packaging of the product is not overly glamorous, with pictures of oranges on the front of the orange coloured carton, but it is hardly an issue when you are only spending 56p on the product.

As soon as I brought this product home from the supermarket, I started drinking it, and was very pleasantly surprised at how pure the juice tasted, rather than manufactured. I had previously tried the Asda fresh orange juice, whilst it was on offer, and I really didn't like it due to the tanginess of the oranges, and the aftertaste. There is no such problem with this juice. In fact, having recently bought the Tropicana smooth ( by accident!) fresh orange juice for my husband, I tasted absolutely no difference between the fresh and this concentrate. The flavour is pure without being tangy or bitter. I even found my husband taking a glass of this orange juice one night, and he noted that he couldn't taste any difference between the more expensive fresh juice and this one.

Since drinking this orange juice on a regular basis, not only do I wish I had started drinking orange juice earlier but it has also had a positive effect on my constipation issues, and made me more regular, which I only hope continues as the pregnancy continues.

A great tasting juice for a very reasonable price!
