Advantages: It makes a change from tea

Disadvantages: Like me you may need a large portion to get "the taste"

I was a coffee addict so I was somewhat lost when I was diagnosed as intolerant both to caffeine and coffee beans. A friend told me about Dandelion coffee and as I am sure most people would be - I wasn't rushing to try it. But I did and it looks a liitle like coffee granules and is made from the roots of wildcrafted dandelions. The roots are dried, roasted and turned into a "coffee" compound. It is caffeine free and I understand that at one time the product contained lactose, but it now does not. You get 100g for varying prices depending on where you shop - I get mine from Holland and Barrett for just under £3. The instructions say you need one teaspoonful to make a drink- personally this isn't enough for me - I use about 4 ( heaped)- but that's down to taste. It hasn't replaced coffee for me- but about once a week - when I cannot face another cup of tea- I treat myself to the alternative taste of Dandelion. It is healthier than normal coffee and very delicate on your digestion.

Summary: For when you cannot drink normal coffee or want a healthy alternative

My late husband used to make dandelion wine, it was vile enough to put me off tasting ANYTHING made with them again in my life!
