Advantages: No artificial colours or flavours

Disadvantages: still a bit high in sugar and sweetners

Isn't it funny how taste buds change over the years! When I was a child, and right through till quite recently really I was most definitely not a fan of orange flavour drinks. I was happy with fresh juice, but not the squashes and fizzy drink type things.
A few months back, I visited a café with a friend and we grabbed a quick lunch there. Well I asked for a cold drink and my friend ordered for me as I was at the table with the kids, and she got me a Tango Orange. I have to say when I realised what it was, although I thanked her, I wasn't too impressed by the thought, but it was hot, I was thirsty and so I drank.

Imagine my surprise when I found myself actually enjoying the drink instead of drinking it just to quench my thirst!

I think part of the change may be my taste buds, but I think it may also have something to do with the fact that Tango now isn't the same as Tango when I was younger. Now, it is made without artificial colours and flavours, but way back in the past when I'd drunk it, I believe they hadn't brought in that rule and it was made in a much more artificial manner.

The flavour IS really orangey which it should be as it contains 5% orange fruit from concentrate (according to the label), but at the same time, it's not like drinking fizzy fruit juice as it's a little sweeter, and much less cloying than fresh fruit juice can be. In fact, I find it quite a refreshing drink now, and it's actually something I keep in the house through choice.

The colour is not too bright - in other words, you can tell that it's not been filled with artificial colours and brighteners, it's a similar colour in fact to watered down orange juice. It does contain sugar and sweetners, and I know both are bad for us, but I figure as long as I'm not drinking it constantly it's not really any more of an issue than drinking a cuppa would be.

The price is a little variable, and to be honest I buy mine as cheaply as possible - Farm foods at the moment have it at a very reasonable 59p for a 2 litre bottle so I've stocked up on a few. Tesco on the other hand make you pay over double that, so I don't buy it from there very often.

Overall, this drink has become quite a good friend of mine - especially in the really hot weather we're having at the moment. It's much nicer to have a glass of this with a few ice cubes in it than it is to drink tea at the moment.

Summary: A nice refreshing fizzy drink for a hot day.
