Advantages: Cheap, Healthy, Nice taste
Disadvantages: Too gassy, Too fizzy, difficult to drink
Finally after a bit of a hiatus the final one of the drinks that was on offer in Morrison's is now being reviewed, one I'd written weeks ago in a note book but never got around to copying it to PC until tonight. If you will, this is the end of an era. This was the final drink in the offer that started way back with Dr Pepper, went through the Cokes and was overall quite a fun little challenge.
Well actually I lied, I didn't get this as part of the two for £1.60 but in fact as 2 for 67p on Tango's in Wilkinson's but who cares about technicalities it's the same drink in either shop. Right? So with the Apple Tango (previously reviewed) I went to work with this.
Like the Apple Tango it comes in a "Corset" bottle, name due to the way it looks like the label is holding in the bottles "stomach" whilst pushing it's boobs up. Again with a black cap and a primarily black label with Orange tints and a host of random messages.
The drink has a gorgeous rich orange colour, absolutely stunning colour, much prettier than the Apple flavour which rather looked like a bottle of piss. The drink looks much better than Tango which is the obvious rival in the fizzy orange market, in one of the many skirmishes in the UK drinks industry between Coca-Cola and Britivic:
Coca-Cola V Britvic
Sprite V 7 UP
Coke\Diet Doke\Coke Zero v Pepsi\Diet Pepsi\Pepsi Max
Fanta v Tango
So Fizzy Orange juices aren't something I'm a big fan of, Fanta was nice but I wasn't a huge fan of it and would have rather had a squash or a cordial as they always seem much better than the fizzy alternatives. Though with accepting that Fanta was a decent drink, it was only fair to try Tango and allow an opinion on that to be made.
Upon opening the bottle the hiss was short but released a lovely orange scent as a nasal homing beacon. First impressions we're high and thinking "Better than Fanta" when it first entered my mouth...then it quickly becomes a feeling that the drinks too fizzy and quite off putting. In fact it's too fizzy to enjoy, and makes drinking it a chore, lovely taste bit sickly texture. To be honest Fanta wins, it's a slightly less good taste but much less fizzy and gassy. If you can handle the fizz then you'll prefer Tango to Fanta as the Orange taste is superior, not by a lot, but it is definitely a better taste.

The bottles messages that seem to be the norm of the Tango drinks:
"We win taste contests*. Not beauty Contests"
"HANDLE WITH CARE"
"Orange soft drink with sugar and sweetners. Contains no artificial colours or flavours (or any of those poncy ingredients like ginseng or elderflower)."
"*65% of people in blind taste tests preferred Tango to the other leading Orange fizzy drink brand. Independent research May 2008. Log on to www.tango.co.uk & let us know what you think"
"Tango and the Tango device are trademarks of Britvic soft drinks ltd (You got that?)"
Obviously the shot at Fanta is there and they didn't lie, it does taste better and it is healthier to.
Summary: Fanta wins
