Advantages: Smooth, medium bodied, almost citrussy, lovely taste
Disadvantages: can't think of any
I bought a pack of this coffee the other day and finished off the other coffee I had in when I got back in, which was rather depleted, ( hence my trip out to buy more). In the evening I decided I was ready for some more, so opened the packet and measured some out into my warmed French press. It smelled good, but then again coffee normally smells good. It was prepared for something a little milder than my last one, a strength 5, this one being a 3, and was looking forward to a really smooth cup.
I tend to drink the stronger varieties of coffee, but now and again you just want something a little less pungent, without giving up the body and satisfaction. This coffee was that. It was as strong as it should have been for a 3, it was about as smooth as I would ask for, had enough of an acidic edge without erring on the unpalatable, and left me with a delicious aftertaste. I would definitely buy this again. It was slightly more expensive than the last packet I bought, but from my experience Taylor's make excellent coffee, (and tea!), so you shouldn't be disappointed. It doesn't have any of the burnt notes, harshness, bitterness, in any great quantity, that the stronger types do. However it still has the satisfying punch that a coffee should do, that makes you reach for the cafetiere instead of the teapot when you want something stronger.
I don't normally drink coffee black, but if you haven't done before, then you could give this a go. It almost has a creamy note to it, and the smoothness makes it quite pleasant to take without milk. I would still add some milk to it, normally, but if I found for some reason that there was no milk in the house I would not hesitate to brew a pot of this up to drink neat.
If you are into your medium blends this could be for you, if you are into your strong blends and want something a little milder, this might be for you. If you like your weak blends, why don't you just drink tea.
Summary: Good quality medium coffee
