I've been drinking quite a bit of coffee recently, and whenever I finish a bag off I like to try a different sort. I chose this one for a couple of reasons, the first being that I like strong tasting coffee with plenty of caffeine, the second being that I've enjoyed other coffees from Taylors in the past. My first cup didn't impress me ever so much, it tasted significaantly less strong and not as rich as the Waitrose French Continental that I find is a good staple coffee to have in. But perhaps I hadn't got the water hot enough, or made a mistake with the length of time I brewed it, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt, and made some more a bit later, hoping that ...  Read the complete review

The best coffee around (178 words)

I'm a lover of coffee and have been for many years going from different types of coffee ground, bean and instant. Someone suggested this coffee to me after hearing me complain about the lack of energy i had in the mornings and i thought why not seeing as i had run out. The first cup bang it hit me the taste, the smell and of course the caffeine kick, wow never have i tried anything like it before, as long as you get the water to coffee ratio right and leave it to brew for 10 mins (that's how long i did mine for) i also have my coffee black so this is the ultimate coffee around if you go for the slightly bitter, dark and intense coffee taste with a decent caffeine kick. ...  Read the complete review

I work in the IT industry, where this coffee tends to be the favorite, partly because of it's high caffeine content (trust me, when you're writing code late into the night, you NEED high caffeine), and partly just because it's got the word Java in the name. I'm fairly new to the coffee drinking world - being British I was the typical 'I refuse to face the world before a cup of tea' type. I'd tried the typical coffees you get when you visit your parents (Nescafé, Kenco and the like) and frankly wasn't impressed. The flavour was bland, the taste uninspiring. Then, arriving at work one day with a raging hangover, I was introduced to ...  Read the complete review

I'll admit it now that I'm a bit of a coffee addict, moving from coffee icecream to instant in my youth, then going full blown filter now I'm older. I just love the earthiness, as well as the caffeine buzz, that you get from a nice coffee. With the Taylors Hot Java Lava, I expected a strong tasting, slightly bitter flavour, as with most other Javas I've tried. Boy, how right I was! After making it, the coffee oozes darkness, the smell is almost overwhelming. The beans seemed to have been packed with flavour to critical mass, and exploded it out into the mug. It smells extremely rich and strong, with tinges of caffeine, if anything, ...  Read the complete review
