Advantages: Tasty, Different flavours available, Not expensive
Disadvantages: -
Despite suddenly coming back to being a lover of coffee, I have been a lover of tea since I can remember. I love tea because it is warming and I find it has a lovely taste. Unlike coffee, you get no real aftertaste when you drink it, which I like as the immediate flavour is more intense.
There are loads of different types of tea available from the most common black tea to white, green and lavender tea. White tea has a floral taste to it and green tea tastes rather authentic. There are other types of tea such as Earl Grey, which has a stronger taste and is a rather posh tea.
My Favourite Tea:
* Yorkshire Tea
* Tetely Tea
* PG Tips
Tea comes from tea leaves that grow on tea bushes. A tea bush doesn't grow that big upwards, but it grows out quite a bit. Tea normally comes in boxes or tins from the supermarket. Inside, you will find teabags which are made of a permeable material so that the flavour of the tea can fuse with the hot water. Different flavour teas are created by doing things such as oxidizing the plants and wilting them. There are also a variety of different tea bushes where different tea comes from.
Personally, I am not into much apart from normal black tea. However, I like to have mine with milk. I find a large mug is nice as you can fill it right up and have a lovely big cup of tea. I add two sweeteners to the cup before adding a tea bag. Once the water from the kettle has boiled, I will pour it in leaving a bit of space for milk. I will then prod the teabag with a teaspoon and give it a good mix whilst pushing the teabag against the side of the cup to release the flavours. After it has been in there for a couple minutes, I like to keep it in and then add milk until there is a light brown colour. I will then take out my teabag with the same spoon but pressing it against the rim of the cup to squeeze out the juicy tea! Just so you know, teabags cannot be used more than once because they lose their flavour and change.
Others like to add honey, lemon and fruit jams to their tea to add to the flavour. I have found that a honey and lemon tea is perfect for a sore throat. The honey will sooth your throat and the lemon gives a nice taste to it, which is sharp in contrast. I tend to add quite a bit of honey when I do this, as it seems to melt ever so quickly and disappear. You may like sugar or fruit jams on your tea too. As for things that go well with tea, I would suggest biscuits or cake. Traditional shortbread biscuits taste wonderful with tea for example.
Tea is actually good for you as it contains some healthy ingredients. Many people are not so much addicted to tea, but tend to have it on a daily basis even more than once or twice a day. I have found the same thing, but it is nothing out of the ordinary. Tea does have the stimulant caffeine in it, making up just around 3% of its dry content. This is the part that isn't so good for you and can be slightly addicting, however the content is so low, and it doesn't make much difference.
Most tea is made in China with India, Sri Lanka and Kenya coming up close behind. 75% of tea produced is sold in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France and Japan. Once you buy tea, it should be stored in a cool, dry and dark place. It is even better to keep it in an air-tight container to maintain freshness.
Overall, I love tea and find it very tasty. It is a lovely drink for all times of the year as it just has such a wonderful and original flavour. With many types out there including flavoured fruit teas, there is sure to be one that tickles your fancy. Tea is quick and easy to make but requires a kettle or appliance that can heat water (I am sure modern day houses have these!) I like to add milk to my black tea; however it should never be added to white tea, fruit tea or similar ones. Sweeteners or sugar is good to sweeten your tea as it can appear to have a rather bitter taste that is too sharp.
Thanks for reading,
