Advantages: Energy giving, huge variety

Disadvantages: None really

Offer anyone a cup of tea, and generally the expectation is to get a cup of 'regular' tea, that which is English Breakfast Tea. Brands such as PG Tips and Tetley, etc, as well as own brands of regular tea all fall under this description, and it's also the type of tea I favour the most.

Most days, I find myself drinking coffee, but for first thing in the morning, for getting me moving, I find a cup of tea is just the thing. Normally, we have a stock of whatever is on offer among the bigger brands, as the quality of cheaper brands, such as a store's own brand, is offer a lot lower and just doesn't taste so nice.

Once my daily cup of tea does its herbal magic of stimulation with its caffeine and tannin properties, I do switch to coffee, as I find it gives me a more instant hit, whereas the tea process is more gradual but lasts for longer.

The word 'tea' is generally used to describe anything made with 'leaves' and in a bag, if you look commercially. As a result, there is a wide range of fruit teas and others with concentration more on the herbal and remedial properties rather than taste. We have Dr Stuart's Detox tea and also the Skin tea, and also a couple of Twining's' fruit teas, the latter for the taste, the former for the effect of making us feel better.

Tea has been around for over 5000 years if you believe Chinese history, and appeared in Europe in the 16th Century. China and India famously have tea as one of their more available drinks, and you can have it hot or cold, and there are a variety of flavours whichever country you are in. I like trying out different teas, although I find I have to be in the mood for doing so. Usually, I find hot drinks need to concentrate on the taste as opposed to the effects they can have, in general, with the Dr Stuart's teas being the exception.

Overall, I like tea. I do drink more coffee, but I am partial to the odd cup of tea, and I wouldn't be able to function quite as well as I do without my brew of tea first thing in the morning.

Summary: Anyone for a cuppa?

I'm obsessed with green tea at the moment, as it's ridiculously healthy and tastes nice.
