Tea in general
For the vast majority of my life I have not bothered with tea. I have always seen it as an older person's drink. However my view of the drink has changed over the past couple of months perhaps because I am becoming older myself and I have started taking the odd cup of tea.
What is Tea?
Tea is an aromatic drink that is prepared by mixing cured tea leaves with boiling water. The tea leaves are an agricultural product and in many parts of the world there are vast tea plantations. The tea leaves can then be cured using a number of different methods to produce different varieties and types of tea.
The most common types of tea are black tea, white tea, green tea and oolong tea. After water tea is the most widely consumed beverage on the planet.
My opinion
I have rally enjoyed drinking tea over the past few months and part of me is wondering why I didn't take up drinking it earlier. In all those years spent in cold student digs I never bothered with tea. Looking back it would have been the perfect drink to warm up the insides.
Mostly I have been drinking normal tea that most people would know such as nambarrie or punjana. It's a form of black tea. Over the last month I have also tried green tea. I have enjoyed both and found them very easy to drink. They are a fantastic accompaniment to a nice bun which I have found go hand in hand with drinking tea. I look forward to trying more types and varieties over the coming years and feel that I may have opened the flood gates.
A tip to other readers: If you sign up to be a tester with clipper teas the very nice people there will send you a sample in the post. They very kindly sent me a box of ten tea bags which I really enjoyed.
Summary: A new found love
