“ Energy Drink „
The Tesco active isotonic drinks are easily available in the non refrigerated drinks department of most mainline Tesco's although I have found that some express ones have not had them on occasion. Also I have never come across this range in Tesco metro however I cannot confirm the validity of my discoveries.
The drink comes available in either four packs Orr individual purchases, either way they are fairly cheaply priced, I think approximately 36p each for a 500ml bottle and it does come In a variety of flavours. The drinks come with a sports, push up, push down lid, making it quick and practical to rehydrate as you don't need to fuss around with a lid. Admittedly the lids are not as effective as the ones on a Lucozade sport however you're paying near a pound less on each bottle. It comes with added vitamin B to keep the doctors away too. The taste of the drink is like most isotonic drinks, similar to a strong drink of cordial, although you may not actually be a fan of the cherry there is in fact several other available flavours hopefully allowing an option for everyone. Other flavours include, orange, tropical and raspberry.
In summary this is a great yet cheap beverage, even if not used for sport it can be useful for just sticking in a packed lunch to save on making one or buying one out.
Tesco active Isotonic Cherry sports drink is a refreshing, tasty and rather eye-opening energy drink at a fairly competetive price. At around 50 pence a bottle, this is a notably strong and potent energy injection, and is surprisingly delicious. It has an expected sports-cap nozzle which prevents you from instinctively gulping it down like you would a regular drink, which you wouldn't want to do, since this isn't your standard drink.
Oddly enough this drink is not carbonated at all, which came as something of a surprise to me when I bought it. Nonetheless, this made a welcome change from the tongue-burning chaos brought about by more conventional and popular sports drinks such as Lucozade or Red Bull. Nonetheless its a really good knock off ,especially considering the rather fine price.
This drink knows its a knock off, and doesn't really pretend to be anything else, its a cheap alternative to bigger brands, much like all of "Tesco's own" products.
Its good for sportsman, runners and even people who just need a little pick-me-up halfway through the week. I wouldn't recommend drinking it every day though, since like most beverages of this kind, its pretty fattenting.

Before going to the gym today I did a little shopping and realised I needed to get a drink before going to the gym as I had left my bottled water at home.
Now when I'm working out I drink gallons cos I sweat alot with working out so hard. I do drink alot of water but when I get really thirsty I find it really hard to quench it with plain water and that's why I have a real love of isotonic drinks. Not only do I find that the glucose levels up my energy levels somewhat but find that they really do quench my thirst very well and on the whole I enjoy the flavour.
500ml clear plastic bottle with ridges all over it for ease of handling. There is a push button drinks dispenser to the top of it again for ease of use so it's easy when on the go to drink it and do it back up. Around the middle there is a black label and on that there is a picture in red of a footballing man and then in white and red writing I'm told it is Tesco Active Isotonic Sports Drink 'Cherry' and then I'm told it contains no artificial flavours or colours and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. Around the back of the bottle other information includes a list of ingredients and allergy advice, a full nutritional rundown, storage advice and contact details for Tescos are given. It's a nice enough bottle and it's informative enough too.
Deep red and this is a smooth, transparent drink. Taste wise it's unmistakably cherry but it is incredibly sweet and has a hint of salt in there taste wise. This drink however is isotonic and meant to inject glucose and b vitamins into the bloodstream fast so although it's nice enough it really is for sporty/active people who need it.
I don't like this drink to simply sit down and drink and to enjoy, for me it really is a drink best enjoyed when sweating like a pig and needing to quench my thirst fast.
I do find this makes me slightly more alert but only slightly. I do however find this quenches my thirst very quickly indeed and cools me down due to that fact. Great sports drink and at 37p a bottle I think it's a real bargain!

Nutritional Information Per 500ml:
Only available in Tesco stores.
Tesco Active Isotonic Sports drink comes in cherry, tropical and blueberry flavours, and whilst they are all nice the cherry flavour is by far and away the best tasting. The drink is very thirst-quenching and full of glucose and electrolytes, meaning that it is ideal for giving you an extra energy boost while exercising or for rehydrating yourself in hot weather, and is also useful for boosting concentration during lectures or whilst at work. Each bottle comes with a nozzle meaning that the bottle can be squeezed and the drink squirted, making it ideal for use when out jogging.
A four pack will set you back around £1.50, which at under 40 pence per bottle makes them far cheaper than their more upmarket brand equivalents Powerade and Lucozade. The drink's high sugar content means that it is not particularly healthy, but is ideal for a quick boost and taken in moderation is an ideal accompaniment to a regular exercise routine.

If you exercise, and you need refulling then this is a cheaper alternative to the big brands like Lucozade and gaterade.
Tescos have come up with a drink that gives you energy, and tastes nice. Im not exactly sure how it gives you energy, theres a whole load of complicated words on the bottle, although it does say that it contains no artificial flavours or colours.
Theres a lot of sugar in this drink, but no fat which is great, as you dont want to be putting fat on that youve just worked off.
I buy these in packs of 4 for £1.69. Each bottle is 500ml. This works out a lot cheaper than buying the bottles seperately, and compared to Lucozade which is sometimes £3.50 for four.
The cherry flavour is refreshing, and it tastes a lot nicer than water. It doesnt really give me much more energy but it does keep me more alert and focused on my workout.
It has a sports cap so this is useful if your running and dont want to stop to take the lid off. I also find this is good in aerobics classes when you only have a very short time to get a drink before the routine continues.
I would recommend this to anyone doing sports of any kind, as it does give you a pick me up that water on its own doesnt. Dont waste your money on fancy brands as this does exactly the same job.
I've always been quite fond of isotonic drinks but since starting university this fondness has grown considerably, as they are brilliant for drinking in lectures. The well-known isotonic/sports drink brands such as Lucozade are however rather expensive and can cost anywhere up to £1.20 per bottle, which to me is more than a little overboard. For this reason I have looked for alternative brands and that's when I came across Tesco active isotonic sports drinks, which at 37p are a fraction of the price. I tried the Tropical version of this isotonic drink a few weeks ago and really liked it and so when I was in Tesco's the other day I decided to try their Cherry flavoured isotonic drink.
All the active isotonic sports dinks come in a plastic bottle that has a sort of handgrip feature. I can therefore see how they are easily suited to those participating in sports. The bottle itself has a sports cap again making it perfect for whilst participating in sports but also just as good for stopping you spilling juice down your front whilst listening to someone speak - something I am particular prone to doing. The bottle itself is clear and therefore you can see the vibrantly coloured liquid through the bottle. Being a cherry flavoured drink the liquid in my bottle is therefore a very eye-catching red. Round the middle is a thin black label with the outline of a footballer printed on it in red. The label also contains the information that the drink is suitable for vegetarians, as well as all the relevant allergy advice, ingredients lists and nutritional values.
Ingredient wise this drink contains everything that you would expect to find in an isotonic drink. It contains all the same preservatives, stabilisers, antioxidants etc as the Lucozade brand and therefore should in theory taste just as nice and be just as good / bad, depending on your opinion, for you.
500ml of the drink, which by the way is the size of the bottle, contains:
125 - Calories
30g - Sugar
Trace - Fat
Trace - Saturates
0.6g - Salt
As well as this it also contains 35% RDA of Vitamin B2, 25% RDA of Vitamin B6, 20% of RDA of Vitamin B12 and 20% of RDA of Niacin.
Now I will admit that the sugar content in this drink is quite high and therefore it should not be drunk in large quantities especially when not doing any sort of sport. It is however a totally refreshing to drink and because of this I quite often find that, due to the fact that I also rink water at university, I don't need to drink the whole bottle and therefore one bottle will sometimes last me a couple of days.
Taste wise the drink is in my opinion one of the best tasting isotonic drinks that I have found. It has an exceptionally sweet and fruity taste that I personally think is quite unique. It is sharp and tangy enough to give it a kick and an edge but not too sharp as to make you cringe a little. Furthermore it doesn't have a very sweet aftertaste like some sports drinks and therefore is even more enjoyable to drink.
Like I have mentioned earlier in this review I would not advice that you drink this drink in large quantities, as just because it is a sports drink it doesn't mean it is automatically healthy for you. Even the bottle promotes the phrase "Can promote fitness only as part of a healthy lifestyle and fitness regime". I am not saying however that you should only drink this whilst at the gym, out running or participating in any other type of sport because it is a delicious drink and due to the fact that it is an isotonic I do feel that it gives you a little buzz when you need it most.
In conclusion I would highly recommend this drink but again stress that it probably wouldn't be wise to drink large quantities of it because of the sugar content. For this reason and this reason alone I am therefore only going to give this product 4/5 stars.
