Advantages: Cheap. Tastes Good. Less sugar in than the fresh juice. Can be diluted well

Disadvantages: Looks like (read the review)

Yesterday, I was in the garden sipping some Tesco Value Apple juice with a friend - and very nice it was too.

Packaging
-------------

The juice comes in a sturdy box which is different from the one that Dooyoo currently has displayed. It is a white and blue box with the familiar 'Value' logo and a picture of a big glass of apple juice (taken at an oblique angle) with some apples behind it. You have to rip/cut the corner off to open it. Ripping it, as with many of these cartons requires a bit of grappling.

Appearance and smell
----------------------------

The juice is a strong golden colour which I think is a little darker than the juice depicted on the box. It has a good apple smell. The juice is generally is appealing as long as you don't start thinking that it resembles the urine of a dehydrated person.

TIP - I actually water down this juice and the taste is not diminished by doing so.

Ingredients
--------------

The list just details - apple juice from concentrate. All of the budget brands of juice are generally from concentrate - and it is my experience that their nutritional values are less than fresh juices that are pressed or squeezed.

Nutritional Info
-------------------

The information available about this juice does not detail Vitamin C content - which is the one are that might be of interest. The only other noteworth thing is that a serving of this contains 28.5g of sugar - which is why it is a good idea to dilute the juice when you drink it.

In this way, not only does it go further but it will have proportionately less calories in.

In comparison, the fresh, pressed apple juice that Tesco sells does not detail Vitamin C content either! This is even though it has added Vitamin C as an antioxidant. Sugar content is slightly higher at 29.8g.

Price
------

The apple juice costs 56p at Tesco at the moment.

In comparison, the fresh squeezed juice costs £1.48 - which is substantially more.

Conclusion
-------------

In the absence of Vitamin content detail of either of those comparative juices, I would not opt to buy the fresh apple juice because the value juice tastes so good and does the job very well.

Summary: A budget juice that is great for summer days

I think GramiWay is being a meany!! I used to drink this and the organe variety by the bucket load and have always enjoyed it!

Great read :)

This tasted completly foul. I don't trust the supermarket's own brand of apple juices as they all seem to be awful. Great review though.

Never tried it but next time I'm in my local Tesco, I might just give it a bash and see how I like it.

Cheap and cheerful eh?

Good review!
