Advantages: Excellent taste, not expensive,
Disadvantages: Not suitable for coffee haters.
For a long time I used Nescafe Cappuccino sachets. I always felt that, although I was paying a bit more for them, I was getting a better quality coffee.
This all changed a few months ago when I decided to try Tesco's own brand of Cappuccino.
The Cappuccino can be bought in either, a sweetened, or an unsweetened variety. I have been buying the unsweetened variety.
I can spot this product easily, on the supermarket shelf, by it's distinct, brown box, and picture of a cup of coffee on the front.
Each box contains ten individual sachets of cappuccino. These silver foiled sachets are about six inches long, and contain enough ingredients to make one cup of cappuccino.
In the box, I also get, a small brown cocoa shaker, and this contains enough cocoa to add a generous topping to ten cups of cappuccino.
I have always found the tear of strip, at the top of the sachet, very easy to tear. All I have to do, is to empty the contents of the sachet into my mug. Then I add boiling water and give it a really good stir. It tells me on the instructions to add 200ml of boiling water, but I just fill up my mug and don't actually measure the water.
When I stir my cappuccino it froths up very well and I always get a lovely creamy looking top. All I do then is, sprinkle the top of my cappuccino with the cocoa from the shaker provided.
The cappuccino has a lovely creamy taste to it. The coffee is not too strong, but neither is it too weak. I find that the cocoa on top gives it a great chocolatey taste. All in all it is a very pleasant to drink cup of coffee.
I enjoy this most when I sit down in the afternoon. It makes me feel relaxed and spoiled.
Each cup of cappuccino contains.
65 Calories
8.8g of Sugar
2.2g of Fat
All the other nutritional values and ingredients are printed on the box.
It tells me on the box that this product is not suitable for microwave cooking. I always store the box in a dry, cool place. Although I have to say that a box of ten does not last long in my house.
In my opinion this is a Tesco's own brand, which I will continue to buy, and use with confidence.
The box cost me £1.09 and this is approximately half the price of Nescafe product. I have not found any apparant difference in the taste.
Summary: Go on spoil yourself...
