Advantages: Very tasty and fizzy
Disadvantages: High in sugar for a low cal drink
I must admit that I'm a bit of a fizzy drinks drinker. I'm not sure what it is about carbonated 'soda' but it always attracts my attention. It will therefore be no surprise to know that when I saw this in my local Tesco then it was something I had to buy.
The bottle of 2 litres came in at 65p, which is cheap, but even cheaper at 50p if you bought 4 bottles which gave you a reduced figure of £2.00. This can be mixed with other bottles too, which is what I did rather than have 8 litres of cloudy lemonade.
I bought the diet version. I always tend to do this with fizzy drinks, as although I know the acid will not do my teeth any good, I know the calories will be low and hopefully not add to my expanding waistline. he calories come in at 3kcals per 100ml. So if my calculations are correct on a two litre bottle that should only be 60kcal in total.
What has just surprised me though reading the details to write the review is that sugar is 0.5g per 100ml. That equates to 10g of sugar. Usually my diet drinks have little or no sugar and I'm not keen on that level to be honest.
The bottle looks like the one pictured about. It has a bitter lemon kind of colour to it. It also has all the bits of lemon if you allow it to settle. Looking at my empty glass now I can see the residue on the sides and at the bottom. Not huge amounts but enough to tell anybody you'd just drank a lemon drink.
The flavour is excellent though. It is not too bitter but does give a little bitterness. The children have drank it and they haven't complained which is something they's do if it was too tartery. A downside though is if you want to use it as a mixer, obviously it isn't ideal in these circumstances. The drink though is very fizzy and is a delight to drink. I could see it being even more so in the summer months, in the garden, with maybe ice etc.
Carbonated Water,Comminuted Lemon From Concentrate (4%) ,Fruit Juices From Concentrate (2%) (Lemon Juice from Concentrate, Orange Juice from Concentrate) ,Malic Acid ,Flavouring ,Preservatives (Potassium Sorbate, Sulphur Dioxide) ,Sweetener (Sucralose)
I would recommend this drink (with caution because of the sugar content) because the flavour and fizziness is great. Treat yourself to 4 flavours at only 50p a bottle. Much cheaper than some of the branded drinks out there.
