Advantages: Nice taste, packaging and price
Disadvantages: May come with a low cost stigma that is unfair
In this financial climate, any way of advising someone on a cheaper, or better value, alternative for something has got to be a good thing and I believe I can do that here. Now, I am not going to tell you that Tesco Diet Cola is a good substitute for the real thing, or that it tastes nicer, but it is a lot cheaper and certainly nicer than most of the other 'middle of the road/value' diet colas on the market today.
As somebody who is interested in packaging, I believe that whilst the product is obviously inferior to Coca Cola, the fact that the packaging is not too disimilar to the real thing helps you get into the mind set that this is not a bad option. For me, a lot of the naff taste from copycats comes from already having made your mind up about the quality before trying, so the fact that the packaging looks the part helps to allay those pre-conceptions.
The taste itself is, in my opinion, the second best diet coke on the market today and that includes Pepsi. I know a lot of people will not agree with me but I am nt alone in my household in having no problem drinking and enjoying this offering. The true cola flavour is there and the fairly low calorie count is a bonus too.
You can see the bottle version here but we tend to go for 12 cans for around £2.30. This is less than 20p per can and this, combined with the more than average quality, makes it a must buy for any family who want to look for ways of cutting back whilst keeping their perks in life.
One thing to remember is that this is not positioned as value cola, it is the best Tesco offering and thus reflects that in its presentation and taste. I certainly wouldn't recommend the 'value' brand at all.
Go on, give it a try.
Summary: The second best cola taste on the market
