You can get away with buying dirt-cheap, no-frills versions of a lot of grocery products, but Cola just isn't one of them. Tesco Diet Cola will set you back around 85p, but even at this low price it remains a false economy, as chances are a member of your household will end up pouring it down the sink in disgust, or alternately it will just sit at the back of a cupboard until the end of time because everybody refuses to drink it.

The drink's colour makes it look pleasant enough, and likewise its cheap and cheerful packaging is quite appealing, giving no inkling of the horrors that lie within. The cola has an awful taste that is at once both chemically and stale, and it leaves a horrible filmy residue on the teeth, meaning that so much as a sip needs to be followed up with a glass of water or a trip to the bathroom to brush your teeth.

It tastes marginally better chilled, but is still distinctly unpalatable, and it seems to go flat very quickly as well. With its high calorie levels its not even much less fatterning than regular cola, meaning that it is both horrible tasting and incredibly bad for you at once.

Ideal for cleaning nuclear submarines, but not a lot else.
