Advantages: Tastes quite natural, nice level of fizziness, good strength of ginger

Disadvantages: Is still an own brand and there are better tastes out there in the premium glass bottled versions

I am a tea addict. I very rarely drink soft fizzy drinks (with the exception of a can of diet coke when I am out and thirsty) as I am just not really a fan of them. However, we always have a vast amount of diet soft drinks in the house as my husband loves them.

One of the bottles that came home from our shopping trip once was the diet version of Tesco's fiery ginger beer. Ginger beer is a soft drink that I enjoy so I tried a glass. My first thought was that for an own brand that cost 47p this wasn't bad. There was no watery taste that you get with some own brands where they have skimped on the flavouring (especially true with diet drinks) and there was a definate taste of ginger due to the real ginger extract in the drink. It was pleasantly fizzy as well - just the right level - I find that overly fizzy drinks burn my throat for some reason and I find them a little hard to digest.

This drink was also really refreshing and cured my sugar cravings! I think that because it tastes more 'natural' than the nasty sugary drinks that are on offer like orangeade and the strange bright blue bubblegum flavoured one, I found it easier to register as a food on my tastebuds and enjoyed it far more for that.

Normally I can leave the bottles of soft drink to my husband, but if this is in the house then I am more than happy to help him dispose of it!

Summary: For 47p a very good buy!
