Tesco Gold Coffee

Description: Manufacturer: Tesco / Type: Coffee

... black though so watch it because you might need more/less to balance the milk if you take it. The label also says that it is suitable for vegetarians and "high quality" "freeze dried instant coffee". Being from tesco it is easy to buy (if youre in tesco obviously) and it is fairly cheap but I would like it to be fair trade - maybe I will look out for that next time because I think they do do one. The only bad thing is that my boyfriend won't drink this because he says it is too bitter. Or if he ...more

Premium Review Tesco Gold Coffee: Instant coffee with lasting aroma (425 words)

I made the fatal mistake of allowing the other half to acccompany me to the supermarket. This usually results in the purchase of an awful lot of unnescessary items and a fifty percent increase in the bill. Hes unable to resist anything on promotion. This weeks tempting offer was Nescafe Gold Blend at £4 a 200g jar. We finally agreed a compromise and purchased the considerably lower priced store brand equivalent Tesco Gold coffee. A 200g jar of this freeze dried instant coffee currently retails at £2.79. The jar comes with a gold plastic lid and a shiny label with the word gold in gold type overlaid on a mug of coffee. Adjacent to this is a picture of a pile of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review More Silver than Gold (340 words)

I have rated a couple of coffee related products since starting on here, so it will come as no surprise to you that I like my coffee. After settling into a happy routine of alternating between Tassimo pods and Nescafe Alta Rica I had to go and upset the apple cart by buying something different; Tesco Gold Freeze dried coffee. So starting with the packaging, Tesco have gone down the tried and tested route of disguising their Gold coffee like just about every other brand out there; a brown label, a picture of some coffee beans and Gold writing. Interestingly there are the words serving suggestion next to the coffee beans, which I think would be quite challenging ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Gold Coffee: Gold! (gold) Always believ in your soouuuuull, you got the p ... (416 words)

After trying a number of different types of coffee, I have come to the realisation that the typical and usual dark instant coffee is not quite for me. I definitely prefer the lighter and smoother taste of a gold blend coffee, and there's nothing really separating this Tesco product from a more expensive brand name such as Nescafe's gold blend. I first had this coffee over a year ago, but every now and then would alternate between an organic or free trade coffee, or take advantage of a bargain offer involving a brand name. However, this stays consistently at an affordable price, and I usually take it into work with me as well. Most of the time, I will have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Definitly Gold for me (425 words)
by - written on 18/09/09 (Very useful, 44 readings)

As it was time to do the weekly shop this morning at Tesco I went round the house writing out my usual list of what was needed. A habit that is vital to me as it stops me overspending on things I just don't need! I noticed that I was quickly running out of coffee and I knew that it would be another £4-£6 to add onto the shopping bill. Of we trotted to Tesco. As soon as I came to the beverage aisle I went to pick up my usual Nescafe Gold Blend jar and noticed the price; £5.67 for a 200g jar. As I am going through the transition of buying cheaper brands that are just as good as the named ones, I spotted Tesco Gold. At £2.97 for a 200g jar I quickly ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tesco Gold Coffee: FROTHY TOP!! Tesco Gold (473 words)
by - written on 05/08/09 (Very useful, 53 readings)

I only like to drink coffee, as since I had my last child ( 19 years ago!!) I can not stomach tea at all. I like my coffee to be a bit frothy on top rather than looking like a cup of mud water. I also like it to be very strong, I do on the odd occasion buy coffee beans to grind and make a proper cup of coffee in a coffee maker. This has become more and more less lately due to price they charge for the beans, so I started looking for a cheaper version of coffee in the instant form. I'm usually drawn to the Douwe Egberts jar as it is eye catching with it's pull of lid ( if you pull to hard it can go everywhere which I have done on more than 1 occasion!) and storage jar ...  Read the complete review
