Advantages: Tasty
Disadvantages: Expensive
Tesco High Juice was first tried by my kids when they were at my brother's and they begged for some because it was so lovely. I'd always ignored it, because it was so much more expensive than the value juice, and besides what possible difference could there be?
Well a lot of difference it seems, I had never really looked at the juice contents of the products I bought, and it was only when I went into the shop, rather than shop online for a change, that I took a look at the labels. The juice I normally bought had 4% juice, the High Juice range had 40-50% juice, depending on which flavour you bought. So I thought I'd give it a try whilst it was on special offer of 2 for £2.
I have to admit the kids were right, and the juice is absolutely lovely , the fruitiness just bursts through with every mouthful, and I haven't found a flavour I don't like yet. My favourite is the Mediterranean Citrus Squash, which is one of the higher percentage ones, with 50% fruit juice. It's mixture of orange, lemon, mandarin and grapefruit, and is very refreshing, but quite a sweet taste. If you don't like it too sweet you could always dilute it a bit more which seems to affect the sweetness first, before affecting the taste.
The allergy advice states that the ingredients cannot be guaranteed nut free, and it contains sulphites! Two 50ml glasses contains 35% of the daily recommended allowance for vitamin C, so it's a good way to get some vitamins into kids if yours don't like fruit.
The only downside is that you have to use rather a lot per glass, the recommended dilution is one part juice to four parts water, so a bottle doesn't last very long. And even though I'm normally as tight as a crabs backside, I have to say the flavour makes this worth the extra cost.
