      a lovely juice drink

~Tesco Light Choices Orange Juice~ The light choice range at Tesco is designed with those who are slimming in mind. They offer a range of long life juices including cranberry, apple and orange. Today, I will be discussing the orange flavour. This drink contains sweeteners and has no added sugar. It is presented in a white carton with a fresh orange picture on the front. The important product information is present. A 250ml glass of this orange juice contains 13 calories, 2.3g of sugar (natural) and no fat. Ingredients : Water, Orange Juice From Concentrate (9%) ,Whole Orange (1%) ,Citric Acid ,Flavouring ,Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K) ,Fruit and Vegetable Concentrate (Lemon, Safflower) ,Colour (Beta-Carotene) Those who do not favour artificial sweeteners such as aspartame should avoid but this is personal choice. This juice drink is suitable for vegetarians. The carton can be recycled. ~Price and Availability~ This juice drink is exclusive to Tesco and www.tesco.com. A 1l carton is priced at £1.00 and there is a special promotion of '3 for £2.00' on this range of juice drinks. ~My Thoughts~ I like fruit juice but most are quite high in syns on Slimming World. I bought this orange juice based on recommendation from my Slimming World friends and must say that I quite like it! It is best served cold and should be used up within 5 days of opening. This is a very practical juice drink to have in the fridge and I like a glass with my breakfast. The carton keeps the juice fresh and the little tab at the top is easy to open. I find the carton the right size to store in the door shelf within my fridge. If you are looking for a freshly squeezed orange drink then this isn't for you. It is different to a diluted orange drink but it does contain quite a lot of water so is much weaker than fresh orange juice. Fresh orange juice runs right through me and I avoid it due to how bitter it is but I love the taste of this juice drink. The juice itself is a pale orange colour and looks like diluted orange juice. It has a lovely citrusy smell and smells fresh and juicy. I find this a very pleasant juice to drink. It is thirst quenching and has a delicious sweetness. There is a lovely, zingy orangey flavour and has just the right strength of flavour for me personally. It might be too weak for some but I find it to be nice to drink and perfectly sweet without the sharpness of proper orange juice. It doesn't draw my cheeks together like fresh orange juice and is quite nice mixed with some fizzy lemonade. Very refreshing. There is a slight aftertaste to this drink which is common with sweetener drinks but it is short lived. ~Conclusion~ I consider this to be a lovely drink which quenches my thirst. Some may not agree with it having artificial sweeteners but my personal view is that unless I am consuming an excessive amount of them daily, then it isn't an issue for me. One carton lasts me two-three days and the nutritional content is low so I am happy to drink this. It is quite good value for money too and I will buy it again. I favour it over diluting juice and fresh orange juice as one is too weak and the other is too strong for me so this is a good middle ground. It is nice as a breakfast drink but I have had some today whilst sitting out on the balcony in the son. Thanks for reading :)

An easy way to your '5 a day'

Everyone knows you should 'eat more fruit' and 'drink more fluids', so what better way than to go for a fresh fruit juice. However, I've sadly become increasingly aware of the calories in foods and drinks over time which is why I was happy to come across a cheaper 'Light Choices' version. Tesco's Light Choices Orange Juice is packaged in a strong cardboard carton with a screw top and can be found amongst the other fruit and soft drinks. Because it's Tesco's own make it's cheaper than the other popular brands at only 88p for the 1L carton. In comparison to Tropicana Smooth, probably one of the most well known fruit drink brands, it's around 72p cheaper (1L Tropicana £1.60). Per 100ml, Light Choices contains only 28 calories whereas Tropicana contains 43. Just a small glass of Light Choices Orange juice, approx 200-250ml will give you 80%+ your daily recommend allowance of vitamin C - it's great to know that you can make a healthier change to your diet so easily. As for the taste, I really like this orange juice. I'm not a fan of bits, and although the carton does instruct to shake well before serving, I've not noticed any bits. It's smooth and sweet to taste, very 'orangey', and with no added sugar. I didn't find it too sharp unlike with some orange juices, it's very pleasant and easy to drink. Once opened, it's recommended to be consumed within 5 days. I'd highly recommend this juice as it's packed with vitamin C with less calories, no nasty sugar sweeteners, and comes in at a much better price than its branded competitors.
