Advantages: Nice taste, thirst quenching, good value.

Disadvantages: I can't see any, but some don't like aspartame

---Intro---

Having already reviewed Tesco's no added sugar Tropical and Lemon squash it's time to review the Mexican Lime squash. We always have several bottles of Tesco squash lurking in the kitchen, but today I've bought my lime squash to work with me.

As my previous squash reviews have said, I find squash a great way to quench the thirst - although I love water, sometimes I want something a bit different. And no added sugar means no additional calories, which is good as I don't need any extra calories!

---The Bottle---

The bottle is 750ml. As noted in my previous squash reviews, the Tesco bottles of squash have double the concentrate, so the bottles are smaller than they used to be (although they've been this size for about a year now I think). However, the squash goes further, so technically you get more in the 750ml bottle than you did in the previous litre bottles! It is supposedly meant to be more environmentally friendly perhaps, but I would imagine that they could possibly make the squash even more concentrated! The bottle is made of 100% recyclable PET whatever that might be. The bottle is also easier to fit in cupboards, being smaller!

The label is blue and has a picture of limes on it - because it's lime squash.

---What's in it---

As expected the main ingredient is water, followed by Lime Juice from concentrate (20%), Citric acid, acidity regulator (sodium citrate), natural flavourings, sweeteners (aspartame, sodium saccharin), and preservatives (potassium sorbate, sodium metabisulphite).

I know that a lot of dooyoo people don't like things with aspartame in them. However, I couldn't really care less myself as I've never had any negative side effects, and I've generally got more important things to worry about in my life (like which food product to review next).

For those with allergies it contains sulphites, a source of phenylalanine and can't guarantee nut free.

There are just 3 calories in a 25ml serving, since I usually have a pint that would be about 7 calories - nothing really!

---The Drinking Experience---

Shake the bottle, and pour into a glass - officially one part squash to 9 parts water (as it's double strength), but less squash and more water for small children, and it'll depend upon personal tastes.

The lime squash is a light green colour, but once it's diluted it's almost clear - hubby often thinks I'm just drinking water.

The lime taste is quite limey, but not bitter like real limes. I have to say I'm not really a fan of real limes - I mean, I can happily just suck lemons, whereas I can't with limes. But I do like lime squash. I haven't really got much to compare it to really as I can't recall ever buying a different type of lime squash - only lemon and lime mixed.

Probably though of my squashes this is the one I drink the least, but that's really as I need to be in a certain type of mood for lime squash! I can't say it reminds me of Mexico in any way, but then I've never been to Mexico.....

---Other---

My bottle has 6 months before it expires - I don't know much about the shelf life of squash as we tend to get through them pretty quickly (not sure exactly how long - depends how often I drink it!)

The lime squash (and other flavours) currently cost 80p.

As I said in my lemon squash review, what I like to do for a change is use half lemon and half lime squash, and make a lemon and lime squash. Very nice :o)

Summary: If you like lime squash and don't have a problem with aspartame, get this!

There's an awful lot of rubbish spouted about Aspartame on the internet - I'm not sure it helps that we add to it through sites like dooyoo. However, nice review and I'm feeling a bit thirsty now.

I like Lemon and lime, pity about the 'A' addition - I won't spell it, it's a swear-word (in my book) Great review, by the way:-)
