Advantages: Tasty and cheaper replacement for Coca Cola
Disadvantages: You can only get from Tesco's
Could I do the Coke/Pepsi challenge? Yeah I think I could, and I reckon I would get it right to. Pepsi tastes like it has more artificial sweetener in it.
OK, so that is my self references for being a judge of cola. On to Tesco's own!
One of the worst things about cheaper (than Coca Cola) coke is that it normally tastes... just like cheap coke. Insert Peter Kay sketch about Rola Cola and you know what I mean.
Things being tight at the moment I have gone for the 'Step down a level' in the branding department when shopping. Sometimes there is no difference in quality and taste, every now and then it is better, but more often it is not as good but the knowledge that you paid half the price of what the branded stuff costs adds a little flavour of its own.
So I downgraded from Coca Cola to Tesco's own Original Cola with a saving of about £1 and was very surprised with the result. It actually tastes like Coca Cola - in fact, dare I say it, maybe even a little more... cokier? What's 'cokier'? Well I would describe it as the taste you would have if you removed all the fizz, sugar and water from the drink and were left with just the brown stuff.
I now buy this as a regular replacement as a mixer and to drink straight from the fridge and recommend any true Coca Cola enthusiasts to give it a try!
Summary: Now part of my weekly shop.

- 04/09/09 I find that cheap coke tastes like the coke bottle sweets you can buy, but just in liquid form. |
