“ Manufacturer: Tesco / Type: Fruit Juice „
I recently tried the Tesco Value (or Every Day Value as it is now known) orange juice and was not really impressed, but this Tesco Orange Juice is much nicer.
It is from concentrate and the one I drink is the smooth version, which does not have any pulp or bits in.
As well as being smooth in consistency, this orange juice has a smooth taste as it is quite sweet and fruity. It has an authentic orangey taste without that slightly acidic edge which you often get with the cheaper orange juices and which I found very noticeable with the Tesco Every Day Value orange juice. This juice is a pure orange juice, and not a watered down "orange juice drink" but it does taste quite mild in my opinion, without a really strong and overpowering flavour. This makes it refreshing and easy to drink.
The nutritional information is given on the carton and it contains 120 calories in every 250 ml glass. It also has quite a lot of natural sugar, as one 250 ml glass contains 29% of all your recommended sugar intake for one day, so although it does count towards your five a day and is healthy I do take care not to drink too much of it in one go - although I could happily drink a lot as it does taste very nice!
Each carton contains 1 litre and the carton itself is fairly standard. It has its own lid so you don't need any scissors to cut it open.
Also at the moment there is the added bonus that you can collect 2 for 1 vouchers for Merlin attractions which include the likes of Legoland, Chessington, Thorpe Park, Warwick Castle and various others. The voucher is printed on the side of the carton.
I would definitely recommend you to buy this one rather than the Tesco Every Day Value version.
Orange juice is one of my main staples and I will often have a big glass of this instead of food whenever I don't feel up to eating as I have been struggling with food just recently due to slipping back into my old anorexic tendancies & all that jazz!
I'm pretty picky when it comes to orange juice and will usually only drink the fresh, unprocessed stuff rather than the concentrated/added ingredient versions but I decided to pick up a carton of Tesco's own brand orange juice while I was in there over the weekend as at just a pound per one litre carton it's almost a pound less than the brand that I usually buy.
This is one of Tesco's best sellers and it is described simply as long life orange juice from concentrate. As I said before this retails at a pound per litre, however it is on long term offer at three cartons for £2.50 which I think is brilliant value. The orange juice has no added nasties such as preservatives or sugar which is a bonus as I have found that a lot of other cheap orange juice often has added water, sugar and emulsifiers etc to bulk it out.
This orange juice comes in a very basic cardboard carton which has an orange colour scheme along with multiple pictures of yummy looking orange halves decorating the carton, which obviously makes it clear what the carton contains. The carton is easy to open due to the screw top lid. The branding of the orange juice is good - the product and brand name are written in white writing and the version (eg smooth or with bits) is also stated on the front of the carton underneath the product name.
It is stated on the front of the carton that one serving contains one of your five portions of fruit and veg a day and the nutritional info is also clearly shown. Orange juice is naturally high in sugar and carbs and 250ml of this contains 120 calories, which isn't bad if it is consumed in moderation. If I'm drinking this on its own I will usually have 500ml ish which is really filling as well as satisfying due to the sweetness.
I love adding orange juice to smoothies too and 200ml is enough to make a huge amount of smoothie when blended up with lots of fresh fruit so a carton of this lasts for atleast a couple of days. Once opened, Tesco state that it should be consumed within 5 days.
The juice is really good quality in my opinion and it tastes as fresh and tasty as any other brand of orange juice! It has no artificial taste to it or anything and it has a nice texture. A lot of cheap orange juice is usually waterred down but this has a really nice consistency.
I buy the smooth version and it is just that - i've not noticed any pulp or anything in there by mistake. I will definitely be purchasing this again as it's good quality and cheap - orange juice is a really versatile drink and I overall do reccomend Tesco's own brand OJ!
I didn't recognise the picture of the orange juice as the bottle is more modern now. It has photos of oranges all over, with a blue box on the front with the description 'Tesco Orange Juice from concentrate Smooth' (the writing is blue, white and orange) so as you can imagine it is a rather attractive and bright carton! It has a white plastic screw top (which is easy to close and open, not too hard) and the best before just above that. Right at the bottom of the carton is the nutritional informational, which is really easy to read.
On the back of the carton is plenty of information for those who want to read it. This contains freezing guidelines, defrost info, ingredients (believe it or not it is orange juice from concentrate!!), more nutrition facts, vits/mins and storage.
I usually open this carton and drink it within 2 to 3 days as this is the best time in which to drink it. (However, I must admit my boyfriend can drink it in a day! Although this is the 1 litre bottle). As long as it is refrigerated it can be drank for up to 5 days. It is a very refreshing orange juice and I do really enjoy it. It is from concentrate (which means the juice is concentrated from where it is picked, then shipped over for packaging where it is added to water). However, I don't feel like this takes away any taste, still very orangey(!) smooth and good to drink.
One of the main reasons I buy this drink is often due to the offers. For the 1 litre bottles they are often on the offer which is 3 bottles for £3, which will easily last a week to 10 days for 2 people which is fantastic value. Alone, a 1 litre is £1.10 and a larger bottle is £1.80.
I do really enjoy the taste of tropicana but when this is over double the price, tesco is just far better value. There are no artificial flavours or colours either which is great.
Definitely recommended if you want a healthy, refreshing, smooth and inexpensive fruit drink.
Tesco Pure Orange Juice is something I've bought on a number of occasions, although I have to admit that I'm not loyal to any particular brand when it comes to buying pure orange juice. However, as I normally shop in Tesco, it is just convenient for me to buy this brand. A 1L carton of the orange juice costs £1.00 - or alternately you can buy 4 cartons for the reduced price of £3.50. I usually opt for buying the 4 cartons as it never lasts that long in my house. 4 cartons will equate to about 16 glasses of orange juice - and so each glass is about 28p each. While this orange juice is not the cheapest orange juice available (there is a Value version), it is probably the best quality OJ for the price.
It comes in a carton which has the screw top - and so pouring it is easy. I hate the cartons where you have to snip the corner off - and so this type of carton would be my preference. Once the carton has been opened, it needs to be consumed within 5 days (and kept refrigerated) according to the packaging, but I find after about 3 days it tends to get that fizzy effect that suggests its not that fresh anymore. There are two types - namely the "smooth" which doesn't contain bits, and the "with bits" version that does contain bits. I personally prefer my OJ with bits because I think this gives it a much nicer taste - and somehow it tastes fresher also. The taste is very pleasant and fresh and it does taste as I would expect pure orange juice to taste. However, it is made from concentrate - which isn't ideal - and it does mean that sometimes I can find the taste a little strong and then I find it improves the taste to dilute it with a little water or serve it with ice-cubes.
Overall, I think this is a good product at a good price. Yes, there are fresher versions out there that aren't made from concentrate, but this is a good option for general use.
Tesco do a variety of juice's, which you can get normally on an offer if you buy three cartons. You can mix and match certain flavours. Fruit juice is a must in my household as it's a great way of getting some of your five a day, and is tasty and refreshing. Lets face it, everyone has to drink don't they?!
One of the staple juices we buy is orange juice. The other flavours we tend to vary to add some variety, but for some reason Orange Juice is a weekly fridge staple. We vary between 'smooth' and 'with bits'. Both are the same price and come in the same packaging, it is easy to get tricked and confused between the two, but one has a blue strip and one has a green strip! Watch out!
The orange juice comes in orange coloured cartons with bright and simple packaging. The cartons are square and tall, with a screw on and off lid which you can do back up and lie flat in the fridge without any leaking.
The juice itself is incredibly fresh tasting, and of a nice even consistency. The juice has a zing to it which makes it taste almost freshly squeezed, although it is missing out slightly on the bitterness you would get there!
The juice is incredibly good for you and can count as one portion of your fruit and vegetables per day, as long as it is part of a balanced diet. It does have more calories than a glass of squash, but it is better for you and tastes great.
A fridge staple, at an affordable price!
Being a beautiful spring day where I am at the minute, with the heat I found myself getting very thirsty. So, I popped into my local Tesco and went right to the fruit juice section to see what was available and ended up picking up a carton of their Orange Juice Smooth. I love fruit juices and hoped this one would be quite a nice one as I am a loyal Tropicana drinker but for the price I decided it was cheaper and it is 2 litres.
The packaging is very eye catching instantly being stacked next to the clear containers. The carton has oranges all over it, piled up to really portray the fruit and it is very vibrant and caught my eye right away. The carton as I already stated is a 2 litre one and it states that this carton contains 1 of our 5 a day. I always pick the smooth orange just because I find the one with bits a little bit annoying and the smoother option just goes down easier.
The nutritional information for this orange juice is as follows based on 250ml which is an eighth of the carton, a rough glass. It would contain 120 calories, 26.3g of sugar which is very high which is why you can't drink too much as it isn't very good for your teeth this way. It has fat traces, it also has saturates of fat traces and again traces of salt which are all under 1%. The juice also contains no artificial flavours or colours.
Being made from concentrate, it means the fruit is picked and squeezed, the juice is then concentrated in the country of origin. This juice is then shipped to the country of use where it is then packed and then the juice is restored back to its original strength by them adding the same water amount. The juice should always be shaken well before being served as this just mixes it all up so that it is perfect to serve. You can freeze the juice if you want but it has to be used within a month and takes 8 hours to defrost.
The juice is best kept refrigerated as well because it keeps it chilled, as there is nothing more refreshing than a chilled glass of orange juice. All of the sugars in the juice occur naturally in the fruit. Another warning given is that the juice must be consumed within 5 days and before the use date. I normally finish my juice within five days anyway as I don't like them lying about much longer.
So, for the actual taste of the juice, well once I have properly given the carton a shake, I unscrew the lid at the top and pour it into a glass. It is a nice tangerine colour when poured out and has a refreshingly fruity taste, the orange is very strong but it isn't too overpowering that it verges on sour which is what I like. It is nicer than the orange that you get down the non fridge section in cartons as this is fresher I feel.
The orange juice normally when I open it I get a lot of glasses out of it so it really is well worth the money. I mean some people are funny about stores own brands but in terms of saving money as Tropicana can be a bit pricey at times this is a brilliant alternative. The juice is permanently on offer on a 2 for £2.50 price which I think is really good value for money as you are getting the cartons for £1.25 each when you look at it like that and for 2 litres each its great value for money.
The cartons on individual selling price cost £1.48 which I think is still a really good deal. I usually buy on their own because I don't want to over do it on the sugar in take and I know how addictive these types of juice drinks can become. However, if you are thirsty with these hopefully sunny up and coming months then most bigger Tesco stores stock these cartons and even some smaller ones, they are just down the fridge aisles where all of the other chilled drinks are stacked.
If you want more information on Tesco and their juice drink range then you can log onto http://www.tesco.com and here they have the online store whereby if you search Tesco Orange Juice it will come up with the range and you just click on 2 litres for this specific one.
Tesco Pure Orange Juice -Smooth
I drink a lot of fruit juice as I love them dearly. Although Tesco is not my main shopping store but I do all my add on shopping here.
Tesco pure orange juice comes in one litre pack which is very eye catching and stands out in the shelf.I got this juice and put it into the refrigerator to get the maximum taste. I always like the juice bit cold and this one was no different. When I took the first sip I was really elated.
This juice is concentrated enough as it has been prepared from pure orange after water extraction. I found this to be really refreshing. I also find the sense of pure orange without any additives unlike other juices where you find the additive flavour bit severe ruining the true savour. It was also perfectly balanced sweet as per my requirement. I also find that the juice is not at all it overpowering or intensely tinged.
The nutrient value was also good as you can find 0.5 gram protein and around 50 kcal energy portion in every 100 ml. Carbohydrate content of around 10.5 gram and small traces of fat does not speak bad either.
I loved this juice and will definitely recommend this to you. It is definitely worth trying.
I have been buying Tesco Orange juice for a while now on and off, as they always appear to be on offer in my local Tesco; two for £2 which is a great buy!
I started buying this when I was advised I needed to up my intake of vitamin C, which this Orange juice contains 25.0mg per 330ml serving which is quite high for a mid range priced Orange juice.
Up on opening the carton the Orange smells really fresh like it has just been squeezed unlike some orange juices that simply smell sweet.
You can buy Tesco Orange juice smooth or with bits in, I prefer the smooth type as drinking bits doesn't really make it enjoyable for me!!
I have found drinking this ice cold with ice is brings the taste out better than drinking it soon as you have bought it from Tesco, as it won't be that cold.
The taste of this orange juice can take a while to get use too, as the taste is strong but not sweet; there are no added sugars apart from the natural ones or anything else, apart from oranges!
I have noticed sometimes after drinking this orange the taste will hang around for a while but to be honest that maybe the same with all orange juices as I have found.
I made my own orange juice awhile back and found it never tasted as good as this!!
You should drink orange juice with your food as it helps to bring out the iron in it and helps your body take more of the goodness out of the food.
My advice is not to drink this after 3 days of opening it as it can start to taste quite nasty and bitter, but it does state you can keep it opened for up to 5 days.
The other point to note, if you have a small fridge it can be very hard to fit the carton in the door, so you will need to lay it down on a shelf.
Stats per 330ml serving:
Calories 155 (8% RDA)
Sugar - Natural (34.7 RDA)
Tesco also sell there orange juice in small snack size bottles which are great for lunch or on the move!

If there is one item that has got to be on our table at Breakfast time it has to be Fresh Orange Juice. I usually check the fridge of a night to make sure the container is full enough as I (and my family) like it to be chilled. I have always felt that Pure Orange Juice (not to be mixed up with other orange juice) is a great way of starting everybody off with their 1 a day - Tesco's Pure Orange Juice, does just that.
As you would expect with a huge store like Tesco, their Pure Orange Juice comes in many different sizes and colours. The one we usually get is similar to the one above but with a slightly different lid - ours is a white flat one, but then again ours is a 1 litre carton, in preference to the 2 litre cartoon here.
As with all Pure Orange drinks it suggests on the packet to shake well. I guess this is so all the sediments get mixed in well. Upon opening the container and pouring into the glass, you can see just how thick the juice is. This is quality orange. The one we usually get is without bits, as the children prefer it that way. The taste of the orange is really quite nice and you imediately know that there are quite a few oranges in the container. Sometimes the children add this drink to smoothies and mix it with other fruits, and it works very well.
Guess What???? Orange Juice from concentrate
of which sugars 10.5g
of which saturates 0.0g
Vitamin C 25.0mg
In all a fantastic pure orange juice. You can currently get 2 (2Ltr) cartons for a mere £2.50. Highly Recommended.
Tesco Pure Orange Juice is provided in a 1 litre carton which is blue in colour and has a picture of an orange on the front. It is quite appealing on the eye and definitely stands out to me when browsing the juice shelf.
This juice is made up from orange juice from concentrate which is squeezed orange juice with the water extracted, it is then shipped & then the water is added back during the packaging process. This means that it won't taste quite as nice as freshly squeezed orange juice (in my opinion) but it travels well and lasts quite well when opened (I find around 5-7 days to be fine). There are 120 calories and 26.3g of sugars per 250ml so enjoy in moderation but remember that a 250ml serving is one of your five a day. I can feel the sugar in this juice and always make sure I thoroughly brush my teeth after drinking (allow it's best not to brush your teeth for 3 hours after eating or drinking anything).
The juice is delicious as it's chilled and it does have a lovely orangey taste to it without being too zangy or overpowering. I enjoy this juice drink and it's one of my favourite juices to drink first thing in the morning when I can scarcely stomach breakfast. I also use this as a mixer with Vodka and blended up with some whole fruits as part of a smoothie.
I am rating the juice 4/5 as while it's delicious it's not the best ever concentrated juice that I've drunk for a similar price. A 1 litre carton (which is recyclable) will cost 97p or 2 for £1.50 (long term price offer).
