Perfectly fizzy pop for a summery lemon and lime (Tesco Sparkling Diet Lemonade)

My other half's favourite drink is lemon and lime, pub style - lemonade with lime cordial and some ice. It's the perfect drink for this hot weather, but as he could drink litres of it (going through the cordial bottle in a weekend...) I obviously am keen to get the ingredients as cheaply as possible!

So, once I'd picked up my bottle of lime squash (79p), I headed into the lemonade aisle, where the only choice seemed to be value range lemonade, premium lemonade or mid range diet stuff. I have to say, I usually avoid diet versions because of the sweeteners, but I didn't want to go down the super value route (never fizzy or lemon-y enough) and at round 40p this diet lemonade was nearly half the price of the next cheapest normal stuff.

The lemonade comes in a bog standard plastic bottle, no real difference to any other brand or price level! It opens with a good fizz, and on pouring looks to be fairly decent quality, with a good number of bubbles and not flat. The taste is quite nice, actually, very lemony without being tart, and not with the horrible fake, carbonated taste you can get with value range lemonade. It doesn't taste at all chemically or artificial, despite the sweeteners.

And with lime cordial? Absolutely delicious, perfect pub taste! So I'd imagine this drink would be great as a mixer as well as over ice as a drink in it's own right.

Summary: Nicer than value!
