Advantages: tastes good
Disadvantages: too much sugar
I'm a smoothie addict - a glass of smoothie is definitely an important part of my lunch break!
My usual brand is 'Innocent' but the prices are just extraordinary, therefor I was incredibly happy to see that Tesco has own brand smoothies on offer. Well, looking at the price was a surprise, it's not as cheap as I expected it to be; 1.90 Pound for one litre is similar to my Innocent smoothies.
Still, I gave it a try and was not disappointed. I loved it and had to hide the box if not by boyfriend would have finished it within one day.
The taste surprised me a bit; the strawberries mixed very well with the bananas and although bananas are cheaper strawberries clearly dominate the taste. You can still clearly taste the bananas though (I thought it would be the other way round). I guess I'll have to blame them the the smoothie is too thick.
It's quite sweet taste, a bit to sweet to make it a refreshing drink. I watered it down with Tesco blueberry juice which was a delicious mix!
There are basically two reasons why watering down is a good idea; a) the smoothie is too thick (that's not Tesco's fault, most smoothies are too thick for me) and b) it's just too sweet to have it when it is hot outside.
Another option is to mix the smoothie with crushed ice and blend it for a few seconds. It's great as a refreshing drink in summer.
The only downside is the high sugar level and of course the calorie content - another good reason to mix it with fruit juice.

The ingredients are apple concentrate juice, strawberry puree, banana puree and acidity regulator - I couldn't taste the apple juice at all but I guess it's needed to make the fruit mix smoother.
So, will I buy it again? Yes, definitely! As soon as I watered it down a bit I couldn't get enough of it. The box doesn't taste long, 3 days is the maximum; but it's a nice treat and definitely better for pudding than sweets. I prefer the Innocent smoothies as they are just a lot healthier (less sugar, less calorie) but the Strawberry & Banana smoothie is just so nice!
