Advantages: Great taste, very cheap
Disadvantages: Too tangy for some?
I have heavily documented some Tesco Value food products, but yet have I tackled any of their drinks, so I thought this just the opportunity.
I'm a huge fan of pure orange juice - I never drink squash because I just find it too weak, and love the punchy taste of the pure stuff. This Tesco version is made from concentrate, which means that it's 100% made from orange juice, as opposed to the aforementioned, which are heavily dilluted.
I prefer my juice to be smooth rather than have bits in, so from the first taste, this was a winner for me. It has a very pronounced taste - incredibly strong and fruity. It manages to steer from both ends of the spectrum, neither being watery like a squash, nor too saccharine like a few other pure juices I've tried, where they just dump heaps of sugar into it. This, instead, has a palatable tang.
It's fair to say that you get what you pay for - a litre costs a mere 56p, and so it's far cheaper than the likes of Tropicana, although of course, the taste is not quite as rich as those. Nevertheless, this drink does a huge favour for the Tesco Value label, for I'm sure that many would not be able to tell the difference between this and some more expensive brands were we to perform a Pepsi challenge. It's got a nice, slightly unique tang, although I can see how some might not like that so much. For me, though, it separates it from the other cheap pure orange juices.
Summary: A great, cheap orange juice
