Cheap and cheerful orange juice (Tesco Value Orange Juice)

Advantages: Great price

Disadvantages: Not as nice as Tropicana!

Like a lot of us, in my house we're currently trying to cut back on our spending. One of the ways we're doing this is by moving down a level in our supermarket shopping. As a result of this, we've been trying a lot of different value/basics products and in most cases we're been pleasantly surprised.

Before trying this we only ever drank Tropicana as that really does taste nice. My husband was most determined not to like the value version as he's a bit of a brand snob! To make the taste test fair, I offered to get him a drink of Tropicana and gave him the value version instead. To be honest he did notice the difference, but not before he'd already drunk half of the glass.

With some of the cheap brands of orange juice, they can taste quite bitter and a little bit too tangy. There's nothing worse than having a drink then screwing your face up! The taste of the Tesco Value orange juice was nowhere near like this. It has a definite orange flavour and while it is tangy, it's not overly so.

The packaging, like all Value products is very plain. Unlike more expensive orange juice you hav to cut the carton, think old style milk carton, which can be a bit messy if you don't get it right.

At just 56p for a litre, this is a great way of saving money but not sacrificing taste.
