Advantages: cheap and cleaner than tap water
Disadvantages: not mineral water! rumors that is is just tap water
Since I refuse to drink straight from the kitchen sink due to the clearly visible white particles that swim around in it, a few years ago I made a change and ensured everyone in my household was drinking mineral water. It seemed like the only right thing to do for health purposes. At the beginning I was all about Evian water but it turned out to be too expensive for everyday use. I tried Tesco everyday value water that comes in a plain bottle with a simple white label. It cost me 17p for a big 2 liter bottle. It definitely wasn't Evian but was better than tap water. I bought it for a week or so everyday but just didn't get used to it which left me in a dilemma.
Now I buy Tesco perthshire still water (the more expensive tesco water) to drink and I buy the 2 liter everyday value bottle to use for tea and in cooking etc. It works out a lot cheaper than using Evian on a daily basis, especially because there are a few of us in the house that need to consume lots of water. I was disappointed however when I recently read in a newspaper that Tesco was just filling their bottles with tap water. I now know why it wasn't settling to drink but was ok to cook and boil.
I do hope they improve this tap water problem, even if they raise the cost of a bottle by a few pennies. I wouldn't recommend this water to drink but I have found that it makes really good tea and coffee. I know it seems a bit much to buy bottled water for cooking and boiling, but I really have noticed a difference in the taste.
Also, if you are going to buy this everyday value bottle from tesco, make sure to buy it fresh every day. For the week that I was drinking this water, I could tell straight away in the taste and smell if it was a bottle that had been bought fresh on the day, or a bottle that was stored for a couple of days! I guess that says enough about the water. Now the decision to buy it is yours!
Summary: I use it for cooking and boiling but not for drinking
