Advantages: Cheap, Cheap and Cheaper

Disadvantages: Needs a couple more stirs in the cup

I am usually a PG Tips girl if I am completely honest, but on my Tesco Brand Mission i figure I would try Tesco Value Tea Bags 23p for 80 who can go wrong.

The box is very simple and quite cheap looking (but we will not judge a book by its cover) white with the Tesco logo in the corner and 80 Tea Bags written across the front with a picture of a cup of tea. On the back of the box is Preparation Guildlines, Storage suggestions and Tesco address and Promise.

After my morning shop and after I had put little man down for a nap I decided I would give my new product a review.

The box was wrapped in celophane which was easy to remove, you open the box from the top and the flap opens, easy to close when you have got enough tea bags out and actually stays closed. The tea bags are stuck together in pairs but are easy to tear apart (and so far no tea bag breakages - we all know what its like cleaning tea from the side it takes weeks to get rid of it all).

Anyway so I make my cuppa I am a one sugar and milk girl and I also have to say I like tea a medium colour so not like nats pee but not so stewed you could stand your spoon in it. So once the kettle is boiled I pour the water in and give the tea bag a bit of a stir around to get some tea colour in my cup. It did take me a little longer to get it to my usual colour but only a couple of stirs and dips.

I did think I would also test out a cup to see how strong I could get the tea to go for my review and this was not so successful as I found the tea got to a certain strength and kind of gave up. I think if you like strong tea you would have to use two tea bags (but for 23p who the hell cares - you can afford to for that price).

So the first taste - well I have to say it was not too bad at all, you can obviously taste a difference to PG Tips but I think when you have stuck to a product for so long, you would anyway.

Well I will buy these tea bags again, may take a couple more stirs to get to the strength I like but not a major problem, and for 23p for 80 I could afford to use 2 tea bags in each cup. Like I said the tea does taste a little different but all tea comes from the same plant.

Summary: You could afford to use 2 tea bags in each cup.

I don't mind substituting own brand for named brands, but I draw the line at tea. Good review nonetheless.

I think these tea bags are excellent value for people who like weak tea as the flavour is definitely there, personally they do not make a strong enough cuppa for me.
