Let's be clear: Tesco Value Vodka is not a drink anyone buys to put on display in their 'drinks cabinet' or to carry around with them to look cool. It's cheap alcohol, costing just over £7 for 700ml of the stuff. With its 37.5% alcohol content this is strictly one for (a) the cash-strapped / and students; (b) those who want to swig it in order to make themselves pass out as quickly as possible. On those terms, it works very well indeed for its intended purpose. Tesco Value Vodka, admittedly, doesn't taste great; it tastes of vodka, which tastes of raw alcohol presented in justabout its purest legal concentration. This is by no means a sippin' ... My mate does a wicked recipe that involves marinating chicken strips in a vodka and red wine mix. It's a yummy dish but the marinating takes up nearly half a bottle of vodka and then it just goes down the sink after which is a wicked waste in my opinion! lol Vodka is getting proper dear at the minute so one weekend she brought a bottle of Tesco Value Vodka for her recipe because the chicken isn't actually cooked in the vodka so she thought a cheapo meths type one would be ok. It cost about £7.00 for a 70cl bottle and that's loads cheaper than Smirnoff or Absolut. After we'd pee'd ourselves laughing at the manky Value bottle she poured some out to marinate ... Tesco Value Vodka is one of the drinks in the range of bog standard supermarket Tesco spirits. I must say that the overall majority of products in the tesco value range are very pleasing and often rival premium brands which is really impressive, however i was fairly let down after purchasing tesco value vodka thinking that it would be as good as other value products. Lets start off with the taste - If you are doing single shots of it, then its mildly bareable although the after taste which is fowl seems to linger in the back of your throat for eternity, If you are drinking/downing more than a few shots then it physically makes you feel sick and is ... ~*~ Tesco Value Vodka ~*~ Vodka is probably my favourite alcohol ever. It's a bit of an acquired taste, and I think the low calorie content probably has a lot to do with it becoming my favourite drink. However! A bottle of Smirnoff is much more expensive than a bottle of Blossom Hill, so I decided to, being the bargain hunter that I am, experiment with some other cheaper vodka brands to see if I noticed the difference, and the absolute cheapest I could find was of course Tesco's own brand 'Value' vodka. Vodka is a bit of a funny drink, and it seems to have a bit of Marmite effect going on. You either love it, or will never go near the ... Read the complete review

There are a lot of things, most things in fact, which you can buy within a value range and find to be nearly as great as a brand product (and occassionally better). But supermarket value vodka (and other spirits) is not one of them and that counts for Tesco Value Vodka as well. Getting down to it it is the taste of the product which dramatically brings it down and this is obviously the most important factor. I could only possibly liken the taste of this drink to paint stripper (in smell too) and I can't stand tasting it in a decent solution of vodka and coke, nevermind on its own in shots. But it is incredibly cheap, so it has a redeeming factor! A ... Read the complete review
