Fine if you like the taste of petrol (Tesco Value Vodka)

It is traditionally very difficult to come across good Vodka unless you buy the premium brands like Absolut and Stolichnaya. Even many (myself included) find the taste of premium stuff quite acerbic if consumed neat, but some of the cheaper brands, like Tesco's own Vodka, pretty much tastes like petrol. I'd much rather drink something like Absinthe (which is 80%, almost double the strength), simply because it at least has a nice taste (even if the aftertaste is gut wrenching).

Having consumed Tesco brand Vodka on one outing as an experiment, it's safe to say that I'd never, ever go near it again. Some things are pricier for a reason, and this is one of them. Vodka goes through a rather complex distillation process that I don't know the inns and outs of, but I'm certain that Tesco must be skimping on something along line, because this not only tastes RANCID, but it's also only about £6 a bottle, whereas the nearest cheap competitors are about £9.

The only means that I'd recommend this Vodka is if you're heavily mixing it with something - it might disguise the God-awful taste, and mean you don't feel like chucking up after every sip. I'm normally an advocate of Tesco Value products, and they very often are as good, or only slightly worse than the brand names, but this one does not, unfortunately, pass the Pepsi challenge. It's a horrid concoction that even undiscerning students such as myself won't stoop to, so I wouldn't recommend that you do either.
