Advantages: I don't need to take sugar, and it is very refreshing

Disadvantages: More expensive than standard Tetley

I had a free sample of redbush (a different brand) about a year ago, I tried it and was pleasantly surprised. So off I went to the local supermarket, and found that Tetley's was the only sensibly priced option at £1.60 for a pack of 40.

For various health reasons, I decided I would try drinking more redbush and less of my usual tea, which is Earl Grey. I find that redbush tastes similar to normal tea, but with a hint of something else - something slightly spicy. Rather obviously, the colour is a little different to normal tea, it has a red hint to it - but it's not bright red.

I drink redbush with a splash of milk, the same as in normal tea, although it is drinkable without milk. Personally I found the taste without milk a little too powerful, but then I don't like normal tea without milk (reminds me of my fridgeless student days). However, one huge benefit as far as I'm concerned is that redbush with sugar or sweetener is absolutely disgusting. I take sweetener in normal and Earl Grey tea, so cutting that out without having withdrawal symptoms was a major benefit for me.

And for once the hype is actually true - redbush is actually more hydrating than regular tea. I find that with normal and Earl Grey tea I'm left with a dryness in my mouth which I don't get at all with redbush - it's very refreshing.

There are allegedly a variety of health benefits to drinking redbush, and I don't know what's true and what isn't. I read that it is supposed to lower cholesterol, which is of interest to me, but I don't know if it does or not. It's safe to say however that redbush tea is certainly not bad for you and is a more healthy option than regular tea. Redbush is caffeine free, which will be good news for those who like a cup of tea before bed!

As for Tetley Redbush, I would recommend this as a good brand of redbush. There is no difference in taste compared to some more expensive ones I have tried, and the price, while higher than standard Tetley, is a good price for redbush tea.

I'd recommend giving this a go - like me, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Summary: Tetley Redbush is very tasty, hydrating and a good price
