Advantages: Rounded healthy brew

Disadvantages: A little more expensive than regular tea

I gave up drinking regular black tea as my main beverage a year ago, choosing to have a redbush (or Rooibos) tea whenever I would normally have a regular tea. It is safe to say that I have tried a number of redbush tea bags - often depending on the price of them and which ones are on offer.

Price
------

I often find that the Tetley redbush tea is cheaper than all of the other redbush brands - which is why I have been drinking more of it lately. Currently at Tesco, the Tetley redbush teabags are £1.69 for 40 teabags or £3.18 for 80 bags. I have, however bought them for less in Tesco before - so a big tip - check all the prices of the redbush tea!

What is redbush tea?
---------------------------

A friend who works in Africa reliably tells me that most Africans drink this tea - so it is not so much of an oddity really.

Redbush tea is a clear reddish colour hot drink with a nutty aroma and a refreshing taste. It comes from the Redbush shrub which is grown in South Africa. It is caffeine free and Tetley claim that Redbush is just as hydrating as water and it counts towards the 8 glasses of fluid that it is often reccommended that humans consume.

Redbush tea is good for you as it contains antioxidants and flavanoids. Antioxidants are a group of compounds which include flavonoids, as well as vitamins A, C and E. Flavonoids are one of the most powerful group of antioxidants, like the ones found in fruits, vegetables and Redbush.

So basically, drinking redbush tea helps mop up the toxins (free radicals) that are in our body as a result of environmental or lifestyle pollution or from breaking down our own food in our bodies.

Appearance
---------------

Tetley Redbush Teabags come in a distinctive red/orange box that certainly jumps out off the shelves to grab attention. These colours were likely chosen to represent the red of the tea colour and the heat of the African sun that the tea is grown under

Tetley Redbush Tea comes in round teabags - unlike some of the square redbush bags of other brands. I personally find that bag shape makes no difference whatsoever to a cup of tea. However, the bags are well perforated and have a decent amount of redbush tea in them

How to Drink Redbush
----------------------------

I initially gave up regular tea because I was consuming too much sugar in my cuppa and when I totted up the number of cups I felt that I needed to change this habit. Tetley Redbush Tea does have a naturally sweet flavour - so I have never had any urge to add sugar.

It is very easy to drink a redbush tea: boil kettle, place bag in mug, pour boiling water over tea bag, leve foe a few mins, drink. I do not add milk and I do not take the teabag out. Tetley claim that the longer you leave the bag in - the more antioxidants you get. This tea does not get bitter and overly strong if the bag is left in (like regular tea).

Taste
-------

I have mentioned the delicate nutty aroma that comes from this just brewed cup. I really like it and I especially enjoy it if I have a cold and the steam from the tea helps unblock my sinuses. The taste of the tea is quite different from regular tea but still refreshing and comforting and not overpowering. Tetley redbush tea is easy to drink and I am unsure why anyone could dislike it. However, I do think that it is difficult to wean Brits off a good old ordinary cuppa and this may explain why some folks are resistant.

To Conclude
---------------

Tetley rebush tea has a mild but distinctive flavour that makes for a very refreshing drink. In my opinion, everyone should be cutting down on toxins and doing their body a favour by helping it mop up toxins that are there.

It is also easier to make the way I have it - and I have certainly cut down on the several tablespoonfuls of sugar I was having, per day, in my regular tea

Summary: Try some.

"Tetley claim that Redbush is just as hydrating as water and it counts towards the 8 glasses of fluid that it is often reccommended that humans consume" ALL tea and coffee count towards the 8 glasses of fluid a day! Tetley trying to make this sound like something really 'healthy?'

I tried a free sample of this and I didn't like the taste. Well reviewed.
