Advantages: Great Taste, Good Value for Money
Disadvantages: Appears Expensive, Isn't in Reality
Tetley are my absolute favourite company when it comes to producing Tea Bags. I've been drinking their tea for many decades now and will happily continue to drink it for as long as they continue to make it! It's considered one of the high end supermarket premium brands these days because it's noticeably more expensive than other teas, but I really do think it's worth paying that little bit extra for.
In Sainsburys, you can buy a box of 160 tea bags for just under £3 and that does our house for about a fortnight I think. I drink a bit, the Mrs drinks a lot and the teen daughter gets through a few cups a day too. So even though you might be able to get a supermarket own brand tea bag for a pound less, is it really worth saving 50p a week if it means drinking a noticeably cheaper tea? I don't think so and that's why I like to pay a bit more for Tetleys. At 1p or 2p a mug, I don't see that it's a luxury most of us can't afford.
I think the best way to describe the taste is smooth and clean. It's not a very strong tea but it's noticeable that you're drinking Tetleys. There isn't any rubbish added to it to pad it out either, it's just a good blend of teas that gives that clean taste. It's best drunk with milk of course like most teas are and it doesn't matter what milk you mix with it - it just works. We usually have green top milk in our house, the semi-skimmed one. I find it blends really well with Tetley.
I also like how quickly you can make a cup with this brand. Some tea bags need squeezing around in the cup between a couple of spoons to get the flavour out but Tetley bags are designed to let the water flow through and brew quickly. I tend to pour the boiling onto a bag, let it stew for a minute then give it a quick squeeze against the side of the cup before binning it. If I make two cups at once, one Tetley tea bag is sufficient to do both but then I do have to get those spoons out and do some squeezing!
I really do recommend Tetley as the best tea going. I've tried all sorts over the years but always come back to it and would recommend it to others.
Summary: Keep It Coming Tetley Boys
