The origins of this opinion date back to New years eve 2002. It was a night where I couldn't possibly lose! I was kitted out in my best clothes. I smelt great, I felt great and I looked great! I was going to club Hertforshire, UK. I was getting a lift with someone who didn't drink alcohol! Which meant a lift back as well! I knew this night was going to go well. The first action of night was to enter the club and make a beeline to the bar! I ordered every single alcoholic drink I could possibly think of! By the time I was totally inebriated, I had run out of ideas. I couldn't think of anything to order (this could be due to the fact that I had the all the ... Read the complete review

I'm beginning to think I have the alcoholic appreciation of a ten year old. Let me explain further. Occasionally I will drink beer or lager. But, I've never really grown to like the taste that much. On rare occasions, I will actually want to drink beer or lager in the same way, that on rare occasions I will want to drink tea. More usually however, I remain as I was as a ten year old, desperately wanting to like beer, lager or tea, but far more inclined to coffee, fizzy pop and sweet drinks. The popularity of alco-pops convinces me that I'm not alone! This is where Tia Maria comes in for me. Now I've grown up, (or so it's sometimes rumoured), ... Read the complete review

There's a lovely story attached to the origins of Tia Maria, all about Jamaica during the Colonial Wars, fleeing noblewomen, black pearl earrings and a secret family recipe. You can read it on their website (http://www.tiamaria.co.uk) if, like me, you like to know the folklore and stories behind the things that you buy. The website will also tell you how this famous liqueur is made and the process sounds equally romantic: coffee beans grown in the foothills of the Jamaican Blue Mountain range are gathered, cracked, and mixed with vanilla and sugar and alcohol then bottled and sold to those of us who love to savour a little bit of the taste and the ... The taste of Tia Maria should never be forgotten, like marmite you either love it or hate it. I most definitely fall into the former category! This gloriously opulent drink has a romantic and dark beginning as the colour of the drink itself. Its history can be traced back some 300 years, to the Caribbean Island of Jamaica. In the midst of the colonial wars in the 17th century a Spanish noblewoman, (beautiful of course) was forced to leave her home. Amidst the chaos and confusion of the flight the maid had just time to grab the noblewoman’s most treasured possessions, contained within a treasure box. Inside were a pair of black pearl earrings and a ... Read the complete review

Me and 2 of my mates decided to have a girly night in while I was babysitting my 2 little sisters and they both mentioned they were bringing munchies so I went to Tesco and treated us to a bottle of Tia Maria because that's always been our drink when we're together. Tia Maria is a coffee liquer and is a smooth drink and not a creamy one like Baileys or Dooleys. It's very dark in colour and smells smooth and rich in the bottle. I can smell coffee in it and it's quite a strong coffee smell but isn't harsh and it very rich. You can try it mixed with anything because it adds a gorgeous fresh coffee flavour to other things but it's got a smooth kick to it as ... Read the complete review
