Advantages: Different and individual, PLeasant on it's own of with mixers.

Disadvantages: Could be too strongly flavoured if too much is drunk.

I had this on the rocks for the first time last night and I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

Tia Maria is a coffee flavoured liqueur made from cane spirit, Jamaican coffee, sugar, and vanilla. This spirit is commonly mixed with Cola as the flavours are somewhat complentary. It also makes an enjoyable drink on it's own, and slides down with the after-taste of coffee a feature of the liqueur. This liqueur forms part of many cocktails nowadays and is extensively used for its' unique and distinctive taste, for example in the tia maria black Russian, or the tia maria white magic.

Advertised as the 'prince of darkness' Tia Maria is a wickedly decadent drink that does have some sort of evil feeling about, and this world-class spirit has been awarded the gold medal in the liqueurs section of the international wines and spirits awards in 1999 and 2000.

Very nice on the whole and should definitely be considered by more people when choosing a liqueur.
