Advantages: a bit different...
Disadvantages: ...yet still not great
Of all the many soft drinks I've tried in recent weeks I never once thought of trying Tizer until I saw it for the first time in years in B&M at a knock down 29p (despite the can saying 39p). To be frankly honest I couldn't remember for the life of me what it used to to taste like so I though, what's 29p for a trip down memory lane, and if nothing else I can write about my experiences anyway and either alert people to or ward people away from it. A social responsibility to try as many products as is humanly possibly and give advice regarding them.
So Tizer, which is manufactured by the A.G. Barr company, best known for the Irn Bru drink brewed in Scotland. Irn Bru has gone from being a single drink to spawning a brand of drinks all under the Irn Bru name but in multiple flavours as opposed to the original flavour for which the name became synonymous with. Tizer has in recent years been under going a few changes and has seemingly been unable to keep it's identity for more than a couple of years at a time so if you remember adverts with a head then sadly that's no longer the drink. The drink has however gone back to being a very minimalistic and unexciting can in red with a poor graphic of a sunset. Also gone are real fruit flavours instead using other natural flavourings (some of which are actually quite weird when considering it's a drink...). The can describes the drink as a "Sparkling mixed flavour drink with sugar and sweetner", which effectively describes any soft drink to be honest.
So with a boring can and an unhelpful description I was none the wiser with what I was to experience so I had to do an experiment...just for...the sake of it. I poured a few drops on a tissue for what I dubbed "the colour experiment", the colour is red. Clever really but utterly pointless as an experiment. Initial feelings were things like "Cherry" and "Raspberry" my mind racing ahead thinking this was secretly perfectly, sadly however upon tasting it I was hugely disappointed.
The drinks taste is peculiar and sadly not Cherry like, but unique, different and yet light and soft with faint carrot undertones, which it's self seems rather bizarre in a soft drink. There is however a very normal thing in this sort of a drink, a very sweet taste and a slight fizzyness to it that seems the norm in oft drinks (well duh). In fact thinking about it, the drink it most reminds me of is Sprite in that they both have identical textures in the mouth.
The can also claims the drink now has "added bite" sadly it, to me, feels like it's a pretty toothless drink, having all the bite of a 1 week old child. Admittedly the lack of a bite does mean the drink is easier to drink but the flavour despite being unique is nothing to come back for after the one can I bought is done. The flavour is surely based around the fact the drink contains 2 concentrates, a Carrot one which is slightly given away and a safflower one that I wouldn't recognise if it hit me in the face.

Overall a rather different tasting drink that is sadly rather poor overall that I'm not going to rush out and buy again any time soon. Sure it's inoffensive and easy enough to drink, but theirs nothing that really pushes the boat out and makes you want more. The flavour might be unique but the quality couldn't be any more average if it tried.
Summary: A uniquely flavured but yet very "meh" fizzy drink
