Advantages: Drunkenness, Tastes good even when warm
Disadvantages: Only available in Walkabout Inn, Severe hangovers
I came accross this one working in a Walkabout Inn. Part of the deal of working there is that you need to know all the products available - food, drink, events and of course where the toilets and cigarette machines are.... so you can handle any customer query! Therefore you had to try all the drinks - oh what a terrible task to undertake! Anyone who thinks Fosters or XXXX is the beer of Austrailia are sadly mistaken.....I havent met an Aussie who will drink that rats piss unless its free! No, those mysterious brands from Steinlager, Tooheys, VB, Hahn and Carlton are the way forward if you fancy an Aussie beer! So, Tooheys Extra Dry - the label and name seemed to put most people off - its not very well designed and the word DRY would put all but the most adventourous boozehound off a beer in a toastie dry enviroment such as in this particular bar. But as far as I'm concerned its a mighty fine drink....I always get it when I go for a drink in there now... Its got good flavour, is refreshing, is potent (5%), goes fine with a kangaroo fillet, and most importantly tastes good even when warm..... The price isnt bad when the 241 deal is on either - works out @ £1.40 a bottle. I'll tell a little secret though.... thats still a MIGHTY mark up on what they import it for, but hey, what can mere Joe Public do about that? So there you are..... if you've got a Walkabout near you then try it! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

- 14/03/03 I agree with your Fosters remark, it is pretty awful.
Although I would have liked to have heard more about Tooheys, what's the ABV? where can we get it? That sort of thing.
A belated welcome to dooyoo to you. If you need any help around the site let me know.
Also, if you update this opinion with a little more information, then please let me know so I can re-read it.
