Do you struggle with your 5 a day? Did you know that a 150ml glass of this juice counts as 1 portion? I decided to try it, as I don't drink fresh orange juice. By the way drinking 5 glasses doesn't help, you can only count 1!

==Tropicana==

Tropicana is a Premium juice and is found in the chiller cabinets in the supermarket and must be stored in the refrigerator. There are several varieties and although it is expensive it is often on offer which was another reason how I bought the juice along with some cartons of orange for my daughter and her husband, who we were going on holiday with. Tropicana has an address in Leicester and a website for more information. According to the box Tropicana has been squeezing oranges for over 60 years. They believe the juice you drink should taste delicious, and as if you were biting into the fruit itself. Nothing added and nothing taken away.

==The carton==

The carton is made of a waxy cardboard and can be recycled. It is about 9" high, square in shape with a roof top style top with a yellow screw top on one slope. The date for use by is September 11th on my carton which was bought a couple of weeks ago. There is a bright sun at the top of the carton and some lovely colourful mango, peach and papaya fruits as well as the name and of course the calorie chart. On the back of the carton is a section about rewards and there is a number on the base that can be entered on the website. It is available in different sizes but my carton contained 1 litre.

==The juice==

I usually buy much cheaper fruit juice than Tropicana, so was looking forward to seeing if it was worth it. I poured a glass and immediately was impressed that it was a bright orange colour rather than a darker, duller colour of other Mango juices. It smelled fresh and fruity and I quickly tasted it. Neither the Mango, Peach or papaya overpowered the flavour, it was well balanced and delicious. Served chilled it was a lovely tasty wake up drink in a morning. It should be used within 5 days of opening. It was easy to drink, a nice consistency, smooth and not too thick.

==Ingredients==

Never, it can't be I thought! I don't believe it! Looking again at the front of the box it clearly is called Mango, Peach and Papaya, but the main ingredient is orange juice! Then apple juice! Peach puree and Mango puree both have 12% and 5% Papaya puree. It is not made from concentrates though.
I was a little annoyed as I try to avoid Citrus fruits on medical advice and so don't drink Orange juice if I can help. This also explained the lovely colour!

Looking at the nutrition information 100mls contains 44 calories, a little protein, 9.8 carbohydrate, which is mostly sugar, no fat, only 0.1grams of fibre but a good 24mg of Vitamin C which is 40% of the recommended daily allowance and if you drink 150ml to count as 1 portion in your 5 a day it is even more vitamin C.

==Cost==

A single carton was £2.18 but on offer I got 3 cartons for £5.

==Thoughts==

I really liked the juice, but a 150ml glass costs over 30p so it isn't a cheap drink. I was annoyed that the name of the juice didn't indicate that it contained orange juice and I would have thought as it was the main ingredient this should be shown. But overall I was impressed with the taste and will risk buying it again - on offer of course! and hope it hasn't caused too many health problems.

I have only rated 4 stars because the contents don't fit the name.

Summary: Fresh fruit juice
