Advantages: Healthy, no bits!
Disadvantages: none for us!
I very rarely purchase whole oranges (although there was a spell of doing it when we purchased our own juicer which now sits gathering dust)......it's just too much of a faff peeling and slicing them and then there's all that stickiness.........so I admit to laziness whereby I prefer to just pour myself a glass from the fridge from a mess free carton.
We usually buy Tropicana with bits (extra juicy bits previously reviewed) but in trying to get the children to drink it we realised that it just wasn't going to work because of the said bits so we bought the Smooth No Bits variety instead which like it's bitty counterpart is not from concentrate and is 100% pure squeezed fruit. We did find this to be successful and even my daughter who will not eat any whole fruit will drink the orange juice as long as it is smooth.
Not having the bits doesn't detract at all from the zesty, fruity, refreshing taste of the juice, if anything it is more refreshing as there is no clagginess from the bits and the juice flows nicely down the throat and you are safe in the knowledge that you won't have any orange bits stuck in-between your teeth when you smile!!
The pure premium juice comes in different sized cartons from 330ml handy bottles (great for picnics or when on the go) to large family sized varieties and others in between so you should be able to find a size that suits your needs without too much trouble and thereby cut down on any wastage.
The size I have is 1 litre costing around £2.30 but Tesco for example often do a three for two offer or two for the price of etc. offers.
Each 200ml serving contains only 94 calories, 20g of sugar (although this is of course naturally occurring sugars (fructose) from the fruit itself, it contains no fat (so good for the waistline) and no salt so it is a very healthy beverage which also gives you a shot of vitamin C, folic acid and fibre. A 150ml serving of Tropicana Pure Premium provides one of your daily portions of fruit and vegetable which is great, especially if like me you have a child who is not keen on fruit itself.
The juice is packaged in a cardboard carton with a screw top that has a seal on it which is broken by twisting the cap in an anti-clockwise direction. Despite having no bits, you should still shake the carton well before serving and consume within 5 days of opening and by the use by date displayed on the top of the carton.
Tropicana's cartons are widely recyclable which is always a plus for me in these environmentally challenging times!
All in all I can highly recommend the smooth variety of this beverage as it is in my household at least completely family friendly and is tasty and healthy to boot.
Thanks for reading. x
