      .

I'm sure the weather has been lovely up and down the country recently and it's been nice and sunny all the way up here in Scotland. I don't take the heat all that well but I do like to sit in my suntrap of a garden in it now and again. It is lovely to be finally get some nice weather. However the Sun has made me pretty thirsty and it is more Fruit Juices that I want to drink in the sun. I thought that this one sounded nice and refreshing so I picked up a carton of this the other day when I spotted it on offer. This came in a 1.5 litre carton - sure you get smaller cartons than this but this size was on offer for £2 which is a good buy for this brand as it is quite expensive Juice this. The carton is alright. It looks like the picture on here and it is easy enough to unscrew the lid which pierces the carton and pour the juice out. The picture on the front of all the Juice looks ok as well. The Fruit in here is Pineapple, Apple, Orange, Mango and Passion Fruit. So a nice mixture of different flavours. Just shake the carton and pour some Juice out. This isn't a Smooth Juice and has a fair bit of Pulp through it. I didn't look on the carton to see if it was Smooth but I like Smooth and Pulp Juice. Hubby on the other hand just likes Smooth. I was right that this is a nice refreshing Juice. Best served when this is nice and chilled and this certainly takes your thirt away and doesn't leave you feeling all that thirsty. This is easy to drink a few glasses of this as it is just so nice. Not so great on calories but what Fruit Juice is anyway? A really nice Juice and I will definitely buy this again.

      A really lovely juice.

After having a heavy night on the "razz", I do find that I an exceptionally hungry and thirsty the day after, so always try to have the basics for a full English ( a must for when you are hungover!) and also a decent fruit juice, of which I will now review! This particular brand and "flavour" was purchased for the simple reason that it was on special offer, and was the largest carton there, I had no real loyalty to the brand, but as it is a "Tropicana" branded juice I was quietly confident that it would be delicious. The carton itself is a tetra packed design, holding 1.5 litre's of juice, with this being stated as being 100% pure squeezed fruit, and not made from concentrate. Described as "tropical" fruit juice, with the juice of 5 fruits, it was initially apparent that this was going to be a "bitty" juice, though this was soon discovered once poured into my glass, with it not only having plenty of juicy pulp in it, but also (and this is due I assume to the addition of not only mango juice but also purée) having the consistency of a slightly thinner smoothie drink. The five fruits in the blend are orange juice, apple juice, pineapple juice, passion fruit juice and finally the mango in almost it's entirety. This makes for a very delicious smooth drink, with the passion fruit adding what I would deem as the tropical twist, not too sweet, but (as long as it's served nice and cold) being thirst quenching and almost a meal in itself, being much more substantial than a normal smooth juice. This juice is of course fat free but quite high in carbohydrates, especially the sugars, with a 200ml glass containing 94 kcals, and a whopping 21.8g of sugars, tough most of thee are naturally occurring sugars from the fruits themselves. This can also be included as one of your five a day portions, with a 150ml glass equating to this, so if you have children like mine this is another way of getting fruit into them. There is a relatively short shelf life on this juice, once opened this has to be drank within five days, though I am quite lucky if it lasts beyond the first day! Price wise these are currently on offer at www.asda.com for £2.00 a carton, with there being a selection of different flavours and consistency's available for all tastes. Not really for diabetics.

Tropicana - Tropical Fruit Juice What is it? ******** A fruit juice drink by Tropicana. Special features? ************* The juice claims to be 100% pure fruit juice and not from 'concentrate' which is washed down diluted juice. This particular version is the 'tropical fruit' one which contains the juice from five different fruits - orange, apple, pineapple, passion fruit and mango. What do I think? ************* I quite like this juice, but have add to dilute it myself with a bit of water!. I actually find the juice a bit thick in consistency, although I think this is from the mango puree it contains. When I say it's thick, it's not that 'thick', almost like a smoothie but not quite, it's just a bi thicker than liquid juice, and I guess, I'm just not too keen on it. It's also contains puree bits which I find a bit irritating... I love mango and passion fruit but somehow when it's all mixed together here, it actually makes the juice a bit too rich and sweet, the juice actually contains a whopping 21.2g of sugar per 200ml serving, that is actually too much, especially dangerous for diabetics or those with sugar intolerances. When drinking this, I actually can't differentiate between the five different juices, the passion fruit seems to dominate the whole cocktail to taste and the mango puree takes over the juice entirely and makes it a bit too thick. I'm very against 'concentrate' versions, and ironically, I have to dilute this sown myself (!). A 1-litre carton costs £1.96, which is a bit expensive I think, but Tesco's are doing them on promotion for £1, so worth a try if you manage to catch it on offer. Thanks for reading. ©leighsa 2010
