Twinning Earl grey. To me this is a summer tea an afternoon tea. At 4 o clock sitting in the garden, in the sun watching the butterflies amongst the flowers what better tea to sip than an elegant civilised tea. I have a packet of Twinninn?s Earl Grey on opening it I am met with the mild aroma fairly sweet a vaguely flowery citrus aroma. I boil the kettle and pour the water onto 1 teaspoon of tealeaves in the teapot. I leave it to brew for a 3 or 4 minutes, not long I do not like strong tea just long enough for the flavour to be released. The tealeaves get a little stuck in the spout, as they are larger leaves than everyday tea. I pour it into my mug (Ok I know it should be into a delicate porcelain cup). The aroma released by the hot water is wonderful. The colour a pale gold. I do not add milk it would spoil the delicate flavour of the bergamot oil. If you wished you could drink it milky or with a slice of lemon but I prefer it black. Earl grey may not be for everyone but it is a delicate, calming, sophisticated, cooling elegant tea try it and see. Earl Grey tea was first introduced to this country by the 2nd earl grey. After his trip to china in the 1830?s he was so impressed with this tea he asked his tea suppliers Twinning to provide it for him they found a blend for him and still use this blend today This tea is not a china tea, but a tea from India and Sri Lanka with a flavour of oil of Bergamot (this is oil extracted from the Bergamot orange) Twinning tea can be bought as 125g loose tea, or 20, 50 and 100 teabag packets. Also an organic pkt of 50 tea bags is available. The price in Tesco?s (guess where I shop) 50 organic tea bags £1.99p 50 tea bags £1.49p 100 tea bags £2.47p 20 tea bags £1.09p Loose tea 125g .98p Well I hope it?s sunny this afternoon so I can savour the flavour of a cup of earl grey in the garden. Thanks for readin
g Mary
