      My favourite tea!

      This is my favourite tea. Not just for breakfast, but for all day. It is very light and tasty. It is not really for those people who like a strong tea, but it is very nice.

      breakfast tea by Twinings

      I love a good cup of tea and nothing is better than any flavour by Twinings. I normal buy my usual brand but I wanted something a bit more special so I chose English Breakfast by Twinings, it is not the most fancy flavour I could have opted for but I wasn't after a fruity flavour. This particular flavour is a classic having been drunk for years at breakfast since 1706 it contains tea from 15 different gardens and this tea compliments a traditional breakfast perfectly this is why it is so popular.

      APPEARANCE

      This tea comes in a dark black square shaped box and on the front is the Twinings logo which look rich and premium. There is a image of a field in the warm sunshine and the English Breakfast name printed on here too. A slight description of the tea is noted and the teabag amount in each box. This tea is special because each teabag comes n a small sachet to keep it even more fresh and sealed and it has a drawstring top to make it looks even more posh with the image on the drawstring.

      ENGLISH BREAKFAST TEA

      So, to begin with taking the teabag out of its individual sachet is easy each has a slight cut line on the top right so you just rip this even more to get the teabag out. The teabag is a nice shape and has the drawstring wrapped around it, just unravel it and then it is ready to dip into a mug. This tea is described on the box as being a bright & refreshing tea and being an invigorating amber coloured tea with a full bodied taste. This doesn't give a lot away but is does make it sound very intriguing.

      I boil the kettle and just leave this hanging over the edge of the mug and as I pour the boiling hot water in that rich scent rises from the mug. My tea turns a beautiful golden amber colour as promise and I leave it to brew for a good three to four minutes as recommended for a great taste. I don't like my tea too strong though so usually judge it by the colour. Once it is ready to take the teabag out I just add a splash of milk for a beautiful warm golden colour and my tea is ready to drink.

      I usually drink this in the morning when I wake up and have it with my breakfast as it is aptly named. This flavour wakes me up as it is rich and full of flavour and it just has a more rich tea taste than any other brand. It is really nice to have this in the morning and it seems so distinct and it is hard to say what exact taste as it is a traditional tea taste really. The tea can be served without milk but I feel milk just makes it that bit more comforting to drink this and I do love it.

      I think anyone who loves a normal cup of tea will love English Breakfast as essentially that is what it is but it is a lot more rich in flavour. It has more depth to it than the average brand but it works very well and I love the taste of this. I feel it is worth paying a bit more to get Twinings, you may not want it every morning but maybe for a treat or days when you want something richer then this is the right one to try as it just seems a lot more exciting to drink this and I'll gladly buy it again.

      COST

      This tea can be purchased at any supermarkets, you can buy in different sizes. Going by Tesco prices, 50 teabags normally cost £2.49 but are currently £1.95, 100 teabags are £4.29 and 200 are £6.99.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Trust the brand - like the tea.

        In our house, it's my wife who is the inveterate tea drinker, whereas I generally prefer coffee as my hot beverage of choice, whilst flirting only occasionally with herbal or fruit tea. We generally get the Typhoo one cup teabags from Home Bargains and Poundland and similar discount outlets at around a penny a bag and have found it perfectly acceptable.

        Last week however we ran out of teabags and I was asked to bring some in when I came back with our Friday night takeaway. I dutifully obliged and given that the only shop in the immediate vicinity was the Co-Op, I hunted down a bargain - not always possible at the Co-Op. We just needed something to tide us over until we could get some more Typhoo.

        I had been trying out a few Twinings fruit teas in recent months and I always scan the Twinings shelves for any bargains. This week, this Twinings English Breakfast tea is half price at our local co-op at only £1.33 for a box of 50 bags so I bought it.

        We didn't taste it until the next day when I opened the box and made a brew for us both. I think Twinings have got their packaging just right. The visual appeal of the box is good and they are encroaching more and more on the volume sales market occupied for so long by their competitors.

        Although an established brand in their own right, they seem to have always operated at the periphery, occupying niche markets. Now they seem to be wanting to go mainstream as well as maintaining their long-held dominance of the fruit tea market sector.

        In essence the box is little different to others but it is easy on the eye, giving the impression of being rather a posh brand and providing the usual information on the front back and sides of the box.

        We use a large Rumtopf jar to store our teabags, so in they went and the first cuppa of the morning was made. For quite a while now, I have been happy to take second dip at my wife's tea bag on the odd occasion when I join her. She takes her tea quite weak and I find that one bag of this Twinings as with most other teas is fine for making two cups, although I confess to giving it a good squeeze against the side of the cup to get a decent colour in my tea. My preference is to make a nice full pot of tea as I think you get a fuller taste but I can tolerate this made in the cup.

        Described as 'an invigorating amber coloured tea with a full bodied taste', I found it very satisfying to drink, with a decent flavour that compared very favourably with other leading brands that we have tried. I drink it fairly strong with only a little milk and no sugar and in this way you get a much fuller flavour and appreciation of the taste. Even as a second dip cuppa, it was strong enough and certainly not bitter. English Breakfast Tea is a black tea and can of course be drunk at any time of the day.

        I don't think I would buy it regularly unless it was on offer and for as long as my wife is content with her Typhoo one cup, then we will be happy to take the saving and try out this and other teas only when they are on offer.

        Disadvantages

        The best tea... bar none

        As I write this I have a pot of Twinings Breakfast tea brewing ready for my afternoon cuppa! Maybe it was designed to be served as a breakfast tea, but I find it to be a good all round tea, strong and tasty. I have tried many different varieties of tea, but always return to this, as it is very flavoursome. I serve it generally with milk, and it looks like a proper cup of tea should, almost tan in colour. It also is good for iced tea and lemon tea.

        I generally buy tea leaves, as I think the make a better cup of tea, but thats just my preference.

        The only draw back is that Twinings do not make larger packs of the product, and I tend to go through a pack every 4/5 days.

        Its a little pricey to most tea, but I would thoroughly recommend this brand to any tea lover.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        So how do you like your tea?

        How do you like your tea? I drink my black tea with one sugar or honey and a spoon of lemon juice or a slice of lemon. I love fruit tea and red tea too. I have never tried white tea and I don't really like green tea despite all its benefits and advantages.

        However I drink one or two cups of coffee every day my blood pressure is still low and by afternoon I get really sleepy. I don't dare to drink a further cup of coffee in the afternoon because even without a coffee I can hardly fall asleep before one o'clock. Usually I drink a good cup of black tea which helps to survive until the kids get up. They are so cheerful that there is no way of falling asleep so they wake me up completely. When they go to sleep again I have a chance for my routine jogging or swimming which makes me fresh again and I can start studying for my next exam.

        Twinings is an English company making high quality tea since 1706. The company manufactures an extremely wide range of tea types and nowadays even tinned chocolate drink and tinned coffees. I think it is a very reliable company that makes brilliant tea. I tried to choose other brand but I always end up with a Twinings as I really love their tea.

        The English Breakfast tea comes in a black cardboard box. I bought a box that contains 50 teabags (125g). It was 2.38 pounds in our local Sainsbury's. The teabags are not wrapped individually but honestly I didn't care. I just drop a teabag into my cup and pour hot water on it. I don't leave the teabag in it for too long time. Usually I stir the teabag with my spoon and when my tea is dark enough I get the teabag out of it. I add a spoon of brown sugar and some lemon juice to it. Lemon juice makes my tea golden and fresh fruity. I know some of you like it only with sugar or with some milk. When I was a kid my mother made all kinds of tea with lemon hence the habit... I can drink without lemon juice I am just used to it...

        When I open the cardboard box I can feel the nice scent of the tea. This scent strengthens up when I pour the hot water on my teabag. As I am the only one drinking tea at home I use one teabag for a cup of tea. I have just finished my tea so its lovely scent still can be felt in the room. It has a well balanced, full bodied taste. I like that it has no spicy taste like Earl Grey. It is one of the best tea types I have ever tried.

        I don't say I will not try other types of tea as Twinings has so many fantastic tea types I haven't tried yet but it belongs to my favourite ones and from time to time I will definitely buy it. For me autumn and winter is the real tea time. I love holding a hot cup of tea staying in the conservatory and watching our garden, the falling leafs, the rain or the snow. The tea keeps me warm and calms me. Not that I have too much time on staying there watching the garden but whenever I have a chance I do it so.

        To sum up, English Breakfast tea is a well balanced black tea which is perfect for waking you up in the morning or in the afternoon. It is made by Twinings which is a guarantee for high quality. The tea is available in 25, 50 and 100 teabag packs. They are on offer quite often so it is worth shopping around if you are a frequent tea drinker. I really enjoy a cup of tea in the afternoons while my kids are sleeping and I have a couple of minutes to relax and really enjoy the lovely scent and taste of this brilliant tea.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A wonderful morning tea from the Twinings range.

          This is one of my favourite teas from the Twinings range and is one which I keep a special box of in my drawer at work. At the moment ASDA have the full range of Twinings small boxes (containing 50 bags each) on a special promotion where you can buy two boxes for £3.

          This, of course, works out at £1.50 per box, which is pretty good considering that the price of one of these 50 bag boxes has shot up from about £1.70 last year to well over £2 at the moment (my local asda retails them at around £2.29 a box). This is pretty expensive tea when you consider that you can pick up a box of smart price bags at around 28p for 80.

          So what do you get for the price tag?

          Well personally I think it really is a case of you get what you pay for with the Twinings range, especially if you really love your tea. This English Breakfast version is very robust and full bodied, it is very easy to make your tea strong with these bags (which is lucky as I like mine so you can stand your spoon up in it) they are in fact so strong that if you like your tea weak I would suggest using one bag for two cups.

          I find that the English Breakfast is indeed perfect first thing in the morning when all you want is that unmistakeable flavour of your morning brew, there is no overriding taste of anything other than the black tea leaves which are in every single bag.

          These bags leave no residue, they are classic, fine tasting and strong. You do not need to leave it brewing for ages or smash the bag repeatedly against the side of your cup to get the colour out of it, in two minutes you will have a perfectly balanced and flavourful cup of rosy lee in front of you - and that, really is what I love about the Twinings brand. Teatastic!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Try it in loose leaf or bagged varieties

            Twinings English Breakfast Tea is the perfect way to start your day. It has a elegant yet invigorating flavour that is great at breakfast time but also throughout the day. The tea has a sweet, slightly fruity smell that I find to be incredibly refreshing.
            Following the instructions on the packet, I use one heaped teaspoon of looseleaf tea per person and generally leave it to brew for a good 5 minutes. I like my tea strong so 3-4 minutes would be about right for a medium strength cup.
            The tea brews to a rich amber colour with a good depth of flavour. As well as the slightly fruity smell, there are floral qualities to the taste which evoke images of the English countryside. It is in this depth of flavour that I believe Twining's English Breakfast Tea exceeds the merits of your average cuppa. I am a bit of a tea addict and will easily get through 5 cups a day, so I like to mix up the varieties a bit, rather than drinking the same type over and over again. English Breakfast is definately the variety that I come back to most often.

            Despite the name, Twinings English Breakfast Tea is a great drink at any point of the day, not just for the mornings. My favourite time to drink it is as an 11am pick me up around the time that I start to get hungry for lunch!

            Twinings offer a good range of loose leaf teas and tea bags, and I am invariably impressed with the quality of their products. I would say that Twining's English Breakfast Tea is amongst my favourite tea's of all time (what a prestigious accolade!), and with Steven Fry doing the adverts on TV, you know it has to be good!

            A tea worth drinking!

            ~ HAVING A CUPPA ~

            Recently I have gone back to the phase of drinking lots of tea. I usually prefer coffee but the last few weeks it has been the tea that I have been craving. At work we have horrible tea in machines so everyone brings in their own tea bags or goes to the café and buys other ones. It is a lot cheaper to go buy a box of tea bags from the shops and keep it on your desk. After finding a box last week I decided to try Twinings. It was funny seeing this appear for this weeks POW as I didn't even look at what box I picked up but it was the English breakfast Tea bags. I had never tried any of the Twinings range before as I am not a huge fan with trying different tea's. It is a great alternative if you do not fancy a cup of coffee in the morning, but need a little boast. I have always thought about how much tea is drank from the average British person it must be a lot!

            Having poured some hot water into my cup at work I added the bag and a splash of milk. You can smell the tea straight away and I left it for a couple of minutes before adding a sugar and taking a sip. Everything about it I liked and everyone around me asked what I was drinking as it smelt really good. I was pretty happy with my purchase and now have one in the morning when I get in and another mid afternoon. A fine way to make work a little easier going! After drinking this, a normal tea bag just doesn't do it anymore. The tea has taken over my coffee cravings! It is a rare occasion that I have found a tea that I like better than a good cup of strong coffee.

            TWININGS

            Twinings was founded in 1706 and is an English specialty company for making high quality tea.
            In the UK Twinings has the reputation of being the countries best black tea. Having this long in experience you would think they would have the knowledge to what you need in a cup of tea. The first man Thomas Twining opened a shop in Strand, London and brought this pleasure of tea to the working people. This has carried on for all this time and the company seems to be filled with passion and love to provide the nation with different varieties of good English tea.

            They have many tests to provide the very best to the public and taste more than 3,000 cups of tea every week. Today there are over 100 varieties of tea with all kinds of flavours. The idea the company brings is that tea is special and not just a drink. It's to help those working people to calm, relax and feel the passion. They are monitored and are committed to ethical sourcing.

            ENGLISH BREAKSFAST TEA

            The breakfast tea is now one of the best liked. It is made to the highest standard and provides you with a refreshing taste that you will enjoy. The smell is really lovely and it can be brought in 50 and 100 boxes. Even though it is called breakfast tea it is good any time of the day. The website tells you suggestion son the best way for the tea-

            - Leave to brew for three mins, drink with a splash of milk or a slice of lemon.

            They also say that it is best to drink either when you've just woken up or in mid afternoon with a biscuit!

            APPEARANCE

            The box is pretty simple but still looks divine. The red colour gives it a stylish feel and will be looked upon as high standard. It is very eye catching and you can pick it out easily from the other brands. It is pretty bright which is a good seller and this shows the companies passion for it's product. The white lettering really stands out so you know what it is and can easily read it from the shelf. The classic Twinings logo is shown at the top which has a real British feel to it. I also liked that they did not over load the box with information and it is shown neatly and clear. It provides the strength of the tea on the front for those who are fussy! The case of 50

            TASTE

            This brand is much healthier than your normal tea or a cup of coffee. Even though it keeps the richness it includes antioxidants and hardly any caffeine. I have to have sugar in any hot drinks so I had mine lightly sweetened but many have said it tastes great black too. The taste is a well balance even though some say it has a slight spice to it. It is not too strong or bitter and I have enjoyed the box a lot. It tastes very fresh which is why each leaf is wrapped and you can tell that it is high quality tea. The full bodied satisfying taste makes it worth the cost. I was surprised that like other brands it is not sour or too heavy.

            I will be buying more of this as it is really good for cold mornings and it helped me feel a bit more motivated the last few mornings.

            OVERALL

            In my opinion it is a very high quality tasting tea and defiantly worth a try. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try something new. Even though I am not a big tea drinker I will be drinking more thanks to this brand.
            It is a very nice tea and a change to normal brands and having coffee in the mornings. I will be buying another box, when this one runs out. It is a bright, full of flavour product and is swaying me to drink more tea.
            A few of my colleges have now brought some after having one of my tea bags. I would rate this 5/5.

            OTHER OPITIONS

            As mentioned previously there are now over 100 varieties of tea from Twinings. As well as there normal tea's they provide organic selections too. There are many different ones to taste so you will find the best for you. You can get some fruity teas which offer flavours such as- strawberry and mango, blueberry and apple, blackcurrent and nettle.

            - The box I brought was one of 50 bags which was £1.70 in my local shop. Even though this is more than other brands you can taste the difference. If you pay more you expect more which is what you get with this brand. You can save money by buying in bulk online.

              Tea, tunes and thanks !!!

              ~~~INTRODUCTION ~~~
              I started writing this review yesterda afternoon as Twinings Breakfast Tea Bags are a regular addition to my shopping basket. Half way through writing the review, however, I had to go out to. Whilst in the car Don McLean's "American Pie" came on the radio. I hadn't heard it for ages and instantly found myself singing along.
              Back at home finishing the review had to wait. There were jobs to done, dinner to prepare and a thanks to my baby son a remote control to find. I'm one of those people who can't relax if I have something I need to finish so whilst chopping up vegetables my mind wandered back to my half finished review. I also found myself humming the tune of American Pie ...
              Somehow the review and the song must have merged in my thoughts which I realised the moment I sang "Bye, bye other bags I could try" ...
              When I returned to the computer I completely scrapped my half written review and started again. I found the full lyrics to the song and decided to set myself the challenge of re-writing the entire song to include all the important details about Twinings Breakfast Tea Bags that I had originally wanted to write about.
              I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to sing along too ... it's a little more complex than "Polly Put The Kettle On" but am sure you all know the tune.
              ~~~ TWININGS ENGLISH BREAKFAST TEA BAGS ~~~
              ~~~ (sung to the tune of American Pie) ~~~
              A long, long time ago ...
              I can still remember
              How that morning cuppa used to make me smile.
              And I knew if I had my choice
              That I could use my reviewer's voice
              And, maybe, they'd be happy for a while.
              But October made me shiver
              With every review I'd deliver.
              Bad news on the website,
              I couldn't think what to write.
              I can't remember if I cried
              When these tea bags on the shelf I spied.
              But then I felt a song inside,
              The Tea that Twinings dried.
              [CHORUS]
              So bye-bye, other bags I could try.
              Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo,
              But my mouth was so dry.
              And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why
              Singin, these'll be the ones that I buy.
              These should be the ones that you try.
              Did you read a great review,
              Do you have faith in Ciao and dooyoo,
              If the internet tells you so?
              Do you believe in using your voice,
              Can you help shoppers make a choice,
              And can you tell me to which stores I should go?
              Well I know that these cost slightly more
              Just less than three quid at the Tesco Store.
              There's a hundred bags inside.
              So wave your Clubcards with pride.
              They make a lovely tasting cup of tea,
              Uplifting and refreshing as tea should be.
              Yes it's the only one for me
              The Tea that Twinings dried.
              [CHORUS]
              I started singing,
              Bye-bye, other bags I could try.
              Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo,
              But my mouth was so dry.
              And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why
              Singin, these'll be the ones that I buy.
              These should be the ones that you try.
              Now these bags make a special cuppa.
              Perfect for breakfast but also for supper,
              And that's how tea should really be.
              When the checkout girl revealed the price,
              I didn't blink or need to think twice
              'Cause this was Twinings Breakfast tea.
              Oh, and while the girl was totaling up,
              I dreamed about making a cup.
              The shopping was complete.
              My tea would taste so sweet.
              I read a review by sewbizzie,
              While my kettle boiled effortlessly.
              And it was tea break time for me.
              The Tea that Twinings dried.
              [CHORUS]
              We were singing,
              Hot water, lemon and a dash of milk,
              For a golden cup with a taste of silk.
              It cleared my cobwebs away,
              Perfect any time of day
              And reflected in the price you pay.
              But I wouldn't have it any other way.
              Now the kitchen air was sweet perfume
              With a biscuit in hand I whistled a tune
              I then got up to dance
              Oh, but I never got the chance !
              My review was still incomplete
              My cuppa tasted fresh and sweet
              It was indeed a special treat.
              Oh, just a pop a bag into your cup,
              Five minutes later, time is up.
              It's now time to stir with lots of care.
              So come on: add your milk, or make it sweet
              Maybe lemon if you want a treat
              'Cause it's the perfect drink for you to share.
              Oh, this cuppa's also good for you,
              Sounds far fetched but it's also true.
              To keep you feeling well,
              Antioxidants as well !
              With only 50mg of caffeine,
              This drink really makes me beam.
              I met a girl who read reviews
              She was eager for some happy news,
              I told her there was no need to shout.
              She went down to the Tesco Store
              Where I'd bought Twinings Tea before.
              But the man there said they'd just sold out.
              And in the car park: the shoppers screamed,
              The dooyooers cried, and the Ciao folk dreamed.
              But not a word was spoken,
              The internet was broken.
              And the three things I admire most:
              My cereal, egg and morning toast
              They taste much better by the coast
              With Tea that Twinings dried.
              *** And, finally, if a more convential review is more your "cup of tea" I have also included my original review too ...
              ~~~ HISTORY & BACKGROUND INFORMATION ~~~

              In 1706 Thomas Twining started out as a tea merchant in the London Strand. The Twinings Company was still trade from that vet same address and today Twinings Teas are one of the world's most popular and well loved brands. Twinings have possibly the largest selection of Teas on the market ranging from their "Everyday Teas" to their more select blends including the classics range, the aromatics collection the fresh and fruity teas and the moment of calm selection. They also produce a range of green teas, white teas and herbal teas as well as many decaffeinated versions of their most popular brands.In addition to this Twinings also have a range of coffees and hot chocolate.

              ~~~ TWININGS ENGLISH BREAKFAST TEA ~~~
              Twinings English Breakfast Tea is one of Twinings best loved teas. Originally sold as loose leaf tea it is now widely available in boxes of 100 tea bags. High in natural antioxidants a cup of Twinings English Breakfast Tea contains just 50mg of caffeine (based on 200ml cup). Made from their finest blend of tea leaves from around the world English Breakfast Tea is full-bodied, refreshing and can be enjoyed at all times of the day (not just in the morning).
              A box of 100 Twinings English Breakfast Tea Bags currently costs £2.89 from Asda (and are similarly priced elsewhere give or take a few pence). Compared to other leading brands they are slightly more expensive but there's a reason that Twinings have been around for so long and that can be found in the taste. Twinings English Breakfast Tea is sold in a variety of different boxes, tins and even can be bought in a traditional tea caddy. The tea bags come in boxes of either 50 or 100 but it can also be bought as loose tea. In addition to this like many products in the Twinings range there is also a decaffienated variety of English Breakfast Tea.
              ~~~ SUMMARY ~~~

              It's not only the taste that's fantastic as Twinings English Breakfast Tea also has a wonderful aroma and appearance too. I highly recommend that you treat yourself to a box of these tea bags (or the loose English Breakfast Tea) as it makes a truly wonderful cuppa that you will really enjoy !!!

              ~~~ PLEASE READ (THANKS) ~~~
              This review has been published on both Ciao and dooyoo. Whilst the song element is an unusual way of reviewing a product it is not used simply as a gimmick. I just had a moment of inspiration and went with it. The most important aspect for me whilst writing this review was to ensure that all the important information that I had included in my original review was contained within the song (whilst at the same time ensuring that the actual words worked with the music). My aim was to present an unusual but accessable review that would both inform and entertain at the same time.
              Please accept my apologies if you had worked this out already (as most of the intelligent people who have read this review on Ciao so far seem to have done) but a number of things have happened today which have really upset me and made me consider the option of deleting my account.
              I feel that I need to justify myself because throughout today I have been subjected to a number of harsh comments and ratings suggesting that I am either "ridiculous" or "self-indulgent" (left as comments on my review). More seriously, though, is the fact that I have also received a couple of quite offensive and hurtful private messages (which I have been asked to forward so that the senders can be be dealt with by the appropriate team).
              If you like my review then that's fantastic. If you don't like my review then then that's ok too ... just please don't be so negative and hurtful.
              There are so many fantastic reviewers out there who write amazing reviews all the time but, sadly, there are also newer members who haven't quite found their feet but end up not wanting to ever write again because of criticism that could be constructive and helpful but far too often is simply negative and hurtful.
              At the start of this section I mentioned that I had considered deleting my account and probably would have done had it not been for the massive amount of support I have received today. And by "support" I don't mean people who gave my review the highest possible ratings but the people who took the time to send me a message and share their thoughts.
              So, finally, can I say a massive thank you to those wonderful people (you know who you all are) for taking a moment or two out of their own busy schedules to make contact when it was needed. I'm feeling more positive than ever now ... so I guess I'll have to stick around a while longer !!!
              *** THANKS FOR READING (and if you've forgotten what this review was about then make yourself a cuppa, go back to the start, rab a hairbrush and feel free to sing-a-long)
                Advantages
                Disadvantages
                just like normal pgtips but creamier... mmmm
                Ok, so- it's 5pm, I've just come home from a very long day at work. First things first- the kettle goes on.
                Awaiting the boiling of the kettle I then do my normal aftershift abseiling, metaphorically speaking. Now, I must say- I do like my tea. I'm an English bird when it comes to tea. Although I do like coffee too, if this has any play in the argument at all. That's if anyone moans at all.
                The 'mixing' process
                The kettle's boiled teabag and milk in cup; come on hot water. As soon as the water is poured into the cup I can see the browney redish (is it me or is the colour of tea kind of unknown? liquid mixing with my semi-skimmed milk. Already the aroma of the full English tea was brewing, so I go and place myself on the sofa with my feet up. It's funny to see what impact a cup of tea actually has on you.
                Twinings, darling.
                I believe that the blokes of Twinings have come a long way since opening their own tea house in 1706. When people think of them they are usually being assosiated with making the different cup of tea such as the 'Lady Grey'. However, it seems as though they fancied a change! And as a twining follower myself I certainly like the change! I think that it is good to see they have made a tea product that can suit the everyday usage which compliments the 'English Breakfast'- hense the name of the tea product!
                Breakfast time!
                The traditional English Breakfast tea is usually to be taken black. However, if you're like me and you think that black tea tastes similar to the crumbs in your toaster then do not fear! You can indeed have this with milk, and sugar if required (or sweeteneers, bladabladablada). From my opening paragraph you can see that this drink does NOT have to be consumed only at breakfast. I'm sorry if any of you actually though that. However, it does go very nicely with a full hearted mother's Sunday breakie! Which is also a bonus! Another, is that it also goes well with the wheatabix or any other cereal that may tickle your fancy.
                Back to reality
                Returning to the sofa, Ok I took a mouthful and what a great cup of tea! Compared to the usual Pgtips, the twinings gives that creamier sort of edge to the tea. This could just be the way it reacts with the teabag, however, I like it. It's not overpowering, which is good.
                The chemicals automatically react with my womanly brain and send me signals telling me that another day has gone, it's all gooooooood. A cup of liquid that makes you feelgood. Wowzers. I feel that that is the only word to describe it.
                Purchasing the tea!
                The tea itself, when you purchase this after research I can see that you can buy it loose (I presume that means that you can buy the leaves and then try and predict the future after your good cuppa?), this is avaliable on the internet.
                However, I think I'll stick to the teabags! It's all I've ever known, and so much more practical- not gunna change now! So! In a shop this will set you back about just under £2, so roughly about £1.80, cheaper than chips (depending on where you go- and will make you feel better!). It comes it a black packaging with is pretty nifty and rather easy to get into.
                The small print!
                Right, I'm not entirely sure about the calories in this product, However, I know that a black cup of PGTips contains only 1 calorie without milk, therefore I will say maybe this bag contains 3? Again, this is without milk. Although I'm sure that it's not too much with a touch of milk. So sit down, enjoy! It will be worth it at the end of a long shift!
                And with winter quickly coming in, what a better way to warm you, eh?
                  Disadvantages
                  yum yum yummity yum
                  I love this tea! I can no longer return to the rubbish I used to drink. For many a long year I was drinking anything from Spars own brand to good old Tetley tea!
                  And yet all those never seemed to hit the spot like this tea does!
                  It doesny have a bitter flavour like some other bags have and its smooth to drink. Dont ask me what that means...it just is!
                  I am spoilt now though. I was in a local cafe today and the tea they served was substandard. It wasnt any different to what I had drank two weeks before but now I have bought some of these bags, I can tell the diference.
                  Okay, they are a bit more in price than other brands BUT once tried thre is no going back. You will find ways of justifying spending that extra 50p for less bags. Ha ha ha I just bought cheaper biscuits to dunk!!
                  Advantages
                  Disadvantages
                  Bit pricey but well worth it!
                  I absolutely love Twinings' version of the English Breakfast tea. The bags contain enough leaves to make a good strong cup of tea, full of flavour. I drink this with a splash of milk but not too much milk because I found that this can mask the flavour of the tea. One thing I found about this tea is that it doesn't leave a sour after taste in the mouth, which I often find with the cheaper brands such as Tetley and PG Tips. Yes, it is more expensive and it is probably worth getting the 80 bags as oppose to the 20 bags because of the price. I tend to drink a wide collection of tea so have had my English Breakfast for quite a while (approx 3 months). It has kept very well, keeping it's favour and aroma. Even with a little sugar, the taste does not fade and the strong flavour of the tea comes through.
                  Advantages
                  Disadvantages
                  need to experiment with brewing times
                  These come in either a small black box or bigger black box depending on the size you but there is a gold band across the top saying "Twinings". I tend to get a box of 50 for under £1.50 which although is pricey they are not my everyday tea, I use others too.
                  I used to be a typhoo only gal but to cut a long story short I was away in a hotel and tried these much to my utter delight- I don't think I have ever drunk so much tea as on that weekend!
                  These produce a full bodied drink which is most refreshing and certainly wakes you up presumably why it is the so called breakfast tea. I would suggest that you play with the brewing times a little to get the perfect cup as I feel it is a very personal thing. I personally brew mine for about 3 minutes and give the bag a good squeeze that leaves me with a medium strength brew. I do take this with milk and sugar although it does suggest you can take it with lemon I have never tried.
                  I enjoy these so much I intersperse them with the everyday range from twinings and don't think I will go back to my old brand.
                  Advantages
                  Disadvantages
                  A traditional Twinings black tea designed for breakfast.
                  It was in 1706 that Thomas Twining began his business as a tea merchant in the London Strand from where the firm has traded continuously ever since. My opinion of Twinings Teas varies a lot depending on the particular blend. Whilst I regard Twinings Earl Grey as still one of the best blends around, many other Twinings varieties leave a lot to be desired, especially some of their herbal fusion teas. In terms of quality Twinings English Breakfast tea falls somewhere in the middle range of popular black teas. I certainly wouldn't describe it as a 'classic'.
                  Twinings English Breakfast tea forms part of the Twinings Classics range which also includes Assam and Traditional Afternoon tea. The tea is a delicate blend of various black teas. It is suited for drinking at any time of the day and is probably OK for drinking with most main meals, but it is as a breakfast tea that this particular blend excels. Twinings English Breakfast tea was originally blended to compliment the traditional hearty English breakfast from which the name derives and it does seem to possess the necessary stimulants and sharp flavour required to pick you up at sunrise. In the afternoon however, for some bizarre reason, the tea seems to lack some of the 'kick' it provides at daybreak. The tea can be drunk with or without milk, I personally prefer it with a drop or two of semi-skimmed. As with all teas, once the box is opened it should be stored in a cool dry place.
                  One tea bag is the recommended dose per person. This is not the strongest black tea you can buy. It does not in my opinion have the full flavour nor the strength of popular top brand black teas such as Yorkshire Tea, PG Tips, Fair Trade and Clipper. It should therefore be brewed for the full five minutes in order to get the all the flavour you can out of each bag. I doubt you'd get two mugs off the one bag.
                  Taking the above into account, and when you consider that a box of 50 teabags will cost you around £1.95 at the major supermarkets, Twinings Breakfast tea is not the best value option. Although at the time of writing it is on special offer at Tesco for £1.30 a box.
                    Advantages
                    Disadvantages
                    Lovely
                    am, and have always been, a person addicted to tea. It is a rare event when I find a tea that I'm not fond of, and it is an impossible one when I find a tea I don't like (it has never happened). When I was a little girl, my family thought I was a little strange with my addiction - whoever heard of a five year old who would rather have a cup of tea than a glass of juice or something fizzy? But that was me.
                    Due to this addiction, I have tried probably every tea out there, and my favourite of the moment is Twining's English Breakfast Tea.
                    I first tried this tea when my fiancee bought it instead of our usual brand, which incidentally is Asda's own, which , for a non-brand tea, is excellent. He had fancied trying something different, and I'm glad that he did.
                    Twinings as a company was born in 1706, so they're a well-established brand, and have also had a lot of experience, which definitely shows. Originally a British brand, Twinings is now internationally known.
                    Twinings have a large range of different types of tea to choose from. Their 'speciality teas' are split into groups. There is the "Aromatics" group, which includes Earl Grey and Lapsang Souchon, the "Twinings &.." group, which has a mix of rather unusual flavours, such as After Dinner Mint and Orange. The "Light Classics" range includes Ceylon and Darjeeling. Our English Breakfast tea is in the "Classics" range, along with Assam tea and Traditional Afternoon.It should probably also be mentioned that Twinings offer organic and decaffeinated teas.
                    This is not by any means a comprehensive list of all the teas that Twinings offer, as this review is only about one of them, but Twinings do have a wonderful website where you can find out all of that information for yourself. You can find their website at twinings.com.
                    As with all teas (except Decaf!), English Breakfast does contain caffeine. Studies, contrary to popular belief, largely show that caffeine poses no threat to health, although it is not recommended in excessive quantities (an 'excessive quantity' of caffeine is agreed to be above 600mg per day). Twinings English Breakfast typically contains 50mg of caffeine per 190ml cup.
                    Tea also has health benefits. For one, it is one of the few natural sources of fluoride - you know, that stuff you get in toothpaste that helps your teeth. It also contains antioxidants that help to battle free radicals, which are essentially highly reactive atoms, which can damage human cells. It is believed (but not proven, and possibly exaggerated) that free radicals can cause cancer, heart disease and other illnesses. So you really are better off being a tea drinker!
                    Although Twinings are not the cheapest brand - around £2.30 for a box of 100 (comparison example: you can get 160 Tetley for around £2.70), they're certainly not ridiculously expensive, and they're definitely worth that little bit extra.
                    The English Breakfast tea, although recommended for breakfast time (surprise), is a good all round tea that I find goes down rather well at any time of the day. Compared to many other teas I have tried, English Breakfast has a 'creamy' taste to it, and tastes good whether you prefer it stong or weak. I have found in the past that some teas tend to leave you with a slight (not good) aftertaste. Twinings does leave an after taste, but it is a nice taste, just the tea. It is a taste that because it stays with me, tends to make me want to go and make another cup straight away.
                    Which I'm going to do, actually.
