~~~INTRODUCTION ~~~
I started writing this review yesterda afternoon as Twinings Breakfast Tea Bags are a regular addition to my shopping basket. Half way through writing the review, however, I had to go out to. Whilst in the car Don McLean's "American Pie" came on the radio. I hadn't heard it for ages and instantly found myself singing along.
Back at home finishing the review had to wait. There were jobs to done, dinner to prepare and a thanks to my baby son a remote control to find. I'm one of those people who can't relax if I have something I need to finish so whilst chopping up vegetables my mind wandered back to my half finished review. I also found myself humming the tune of American Pie ...
Somehow the review and the song must have merged in my thoughts which I realised the moment I sang "Bye, bye other bags I could try" ...
When I returned to the computer I completely scrapped my half written review and started again. I found the full lyrics to the song and decided to set myself the challenge of re-writing the entire song to include all the important details about Twinings Breakfast Tea Bags that I had originally wanted to write about.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Please feel free to sing along too ... it's a little more complex than "Polly Put The Kettle On" but am sure you all know the tune.
~~~ TWININGS ENGLISH BREAKFAST TEA BAGS ~~~
~~~ (sung to the tune of American Pie) ~~~
A long, long time ago ...
I can still remember
How that morning cuppa used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my choice
That I could use my reviewer's voice
And, maybe, they'd be happy for a while.
But October made me shiver
With every review I'd deliver.
Bad news on the website,
I couldn't think what to write.
I can't remember if I cried
When these tea bags on the shelf I spied.
But then I felt a song inside,
The Tea that Twinings dried.
[CHORUS]
So bye-bye, other bags I could try.
Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo,
But my mouth was so dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why
Singin, these'll be the ones that I buy.
These should be the ones that you try.
Did you read a great review,
Do you have faith in Ciao and dooyoo,
If the internet tells you so?
Do you believe in using your voice,
Can you help shoppers make a choice,
And can you tell me to which stores I should go?
Well I know that these cost slightly more
Just less than three quid at the Tesco Store.
There's a hundred bags inside.
So wave your Clubcards with pride.
They make a lovely tasting cup of tea,
Uplifting and refreshing as tea should be.
Yes it's the only one for me
The Tea that Twinings dried.
[CHORUS]
I started singing,
Bye-bye, other bags I could try.
Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo,
But my mouth was so dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why
Singin, these'll be the ones that I buy.
These should be the ones that you try.
Now these bags make a special cuppa.
Perfect for breakfast but also for supper,
And that's how tea should really be.
When the checkout girl revealed the price,
I didn't blink or need to think twice
'Cause this was Twinings Breakfast tea.
Oh, and while the girl was totaling up,
I dreamed about making a cup.
The shopping was complete.
My tea would taste so sweet.
I read a review by sewbizzie,
While my kettle boiled effortlessly.
And it was tea break time for me.
The Tea that Twinings dried.
[CHORUS]
We were singing,
Bye-bye, other bags I could try.
Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo
But my mouth was so dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why.
And singin, these'll be the ones that I buy
These should be the ones that you try.
Hot water, lemon and a dash of milk,
For a golden cup with a taste of silk.
It cleared my cobwebs away,
Perfect any time of day
And reflected in the price you pay.
But I wouldn't have it any other way.
Now the kitchen air was sweet perfume
With a biscuit in hand I whistled a tune
I then got up to dance
Oh, but I never got the chance !
My review was still incomplete
My cuppa tasted fresh and sweet
It was indeed a special treat.
The Tea that Twinings dried.
[CHORUS]
We started singing,
Bye-bye, other bags I could try.
Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo
But my mouth was so dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why
And Singin, these'll be the ones that I buy.
These should be the ones that you try.
Oh, just a pop a bag into your cup,
Five minutes later, time is up.
It's now time to stir with lots of care.
So come on: add your milk, or make it sweet
Maybe lemon if you want a treat
'Cause it's the perfect drink for you to share.
Oh, this cuppa's also good for you,
Sounds far fetched but it's also true.
To keep you feeling well,
Antioxidants as well !
With only 50mg of caffeine,
These bags will let you sleep and dream.
This drink really makes me beam.
The Tea that Twinings dried.
[CHORUS]
He was singing,
Bye-bye, other bags I could try.
Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo
But my mouth was so dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why.
And singin, these'll be the ones that I buy
These should be the ones that you try.
I met a girl who read reviews
She was eager for some happy news,
I told her there was no need to shout.
She went down to the Tesco Store
Where I'd bought Twinings Tea before.
But the man there said they'd just sold out.
And in the car park: the shoppers screamed,
The dooyooers cried, and the Ciao folk dreamed.
But not a word was spoken,
The internet was broken.
And the three things I admire most:
My cereal, egg and morning toast
They taste much better by the coast
With Tea that Twinings dried.
[CHORUS]
And they were singing,
Bye-bye, other bags I could try.
Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo,
But my mouth was so dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why
Singin, these'll be the ones that I buy.
These should be the ones that you try.
[CHORUS]
They were singing,
Bye-bye, other bags I could try.
Tried some Tetleys and some Typhoo,
But my mouth was so dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin Twinings, but why
Singin, these'll be the ones that I buy.
*** And, finally, if a more convential review is more your "cup of tea" I have also included my original review too ...
~~~ HISTORY & BACKGROUND INFORMATION ~~~

In 1706 Thomas Twining started out as a tea merchant in the London Strand. The Twinings Company was still trade from that vet same address and today Twinings Teas are one of the world's most popular and well loved brands. Twinings have possibly the largest selection of Teas on the market ranging from their "Everyday Teas" to their more select blends including the classics range, the aromatics collection the fresh and fruity teas and the moment of calm selection. They also produce a range of green teas, white teas and herbal teas as well as many decaffeinated versions of their most popular brands.In addition to this Twinings also have a range of coffees and hot chocolate.

~~~ TWININGS ENGLISH BREAKFAST TEA ~~~
Twinings English Breakfast Tea is one of Twinings best loved teas. Originally sold as loose leaf tea it is now widely available in boxes of 100 tea bags. High in natural antioxidants a cup of Twinings English Breakfast Tea contains just 50mg of caffeine (based on 200ml cup). Made from their finest blend of tea leaves from around the world English Breakfast Tea is full-bodied, refreshing and can be enjoyed at all times of the day (not just in the morning).
A box of 100 Twinings English Breakfast Tea Bags currently costs £2.89 from Asda (and are similarly priced elsewhere give or take a few pence). Compared to other leading brands they are slightly more expensive but there's a reason that Twinings have been around for so long and that can be found in the taste. Twinings English Breakfast Tea is sold in a variety of different boxes, tins and even can be bought in a traditional tea caddy. The tea bags come in boxes of either 50 or 100 but it can also be bought as loose tea. In addition to this like many products in the Twinings range there is also a decaffienated variety of English Breakfast Tea.
~~~ SUMMARY ~~~

It's not only the taste that's fantastic as Twinings English Breakfast Tea also has a wonderful aroma and appearance too. I highly recommend that you treat yourself to a box of these tea bags (or the loose English Breakfast Tea) as it makes a truly wonderful cuppa that you will really enjoy !!!

~~~ PLEASE READ (THANKS) ~~~
This review has been published on both Ciao and dooyoo. Whilst the song element is an unusual way of reviewing a product it is not used simply as a gimmick. I just had a moment of inspiration and went with it. The most important aspect for me whilst writing this review was to ensure that all the important information that I had included in my original review was contained within the song (whilst at the same time ensuring that the actual words worked with the music). My aim was to present an unusual but accessable review that would both inform and entertain at the same time.
Please accept my apologies if you had worked this out already (as most of the intelligent people who have read this review on Ciao so far seem to have done) but a number of things have happened today which have really upset me and made me consider the option of deleting my account.
I feel that I need to justify myself because throughout today I have been subjected to a number of harsh comments and ratings suggesting that I am either "ridiculous" or "self-indulgent" (left as comments on my review). More seriously, though, is the fact that I have also received a couple of quite offensive and hurtful private messages (which I have been asked to forward so that the senders can be be dealt with by the appropriate team).
If you like my review then that's fantastic. If you don't like my review then then that's ok too ... just please don't be so negative and hurtful.
There are so many fantastic reviewers out there who write amazing reviews all the time but, sadly, there are also newer members who haven't quite found their feet but end up not wanting to ever write again because of criticism that could be constructive and helpful but far too often is simply negative and hurtful.
At the start of this section I mentioned that I had considered deleting my account and probably would have done had it not been for the massive amount of support I have received today. And by "support" I don't mean people who gave my review the highest possible ratings but the people who took the time to send me a message and share their thoughts.
So, finally, can I say a massive thank you to those wonderful people (you know who you all are) for taking a moment or two out of their own busy schedules to make contact when it was needed. I'm feeling more positive than ever now ... so I guess I'll have to stick around a while longer !!!
*** THANKS FOR READING (and if you've forgotten what this review was about then make yourself a cuppa, go back to the start, rab a hairbrush and feel free to sing-a-long)
