Advantages: Fresh, flavoursome tea

Disadvantages: None for me

Tea has been around since about 2000 years BC. For the last two hundred years or so it has been a popular drink and seems set to stay so. However the way we drink our tea has changed over the years. Twinings have been an established brand of Tea for many years. Until recently they seemed to only manufacture herbal and specialist teas but these days they sell an everyday product, which is becoming much more popular. This is sold as tea bags with either 40, 80 or 160 bags in a box.

The packaging is light and fresh, in a summery yellow. The cup of tea on the box looks delicious but will your brew be as good?. Well I have to say that, yes, it probably will.

Twinings everyday tea provides a full flavoured tea that is never heavy or stewed in flavour. For me it has the right colour and flavour, especially if I am in dire need of refreshment. Served with lemon or milk it tastes equally good. As usual it is the blend of tea which either makes or breaks the product. In the case of Twinings everyday tea it is just right.

Twinings first began, in the business of tea, in 1706. Their empire has grown immensely over the years and now they trade in over 100 countries around the world. With this increase has come diversity and their range now includes:-
Coffee
Chocolate drinks.
Herbal infusions
Green teas
Iced Tea
Everyday tea
Part of Twinings business plan is their "ethical sourcing of tea. This is good news especially nowadays. Twinings are proud of their teas. They make sure that their tea is grown in the right conditions which improves the quality of the drink. Likewise they pack and store their product under the best conditions in order to retain the teas freshness and flavour.

As the world's most popular beverage Tea seems to be going from strength to strength, no pun intended. From Russia to Africa, and from America to the Far East, tea is brewed, drunk and enjoyed in many different ways. It is this versatility that gives tea its universal appeal. It suits any weather or culture. No matter how you drink your tea though it is worth remembering that teas all come from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis. Needing a specific climate in order to flourish this plant produces hundreds of subtle variations in the flavour and aroma of tea.

Here is Twining's advice for making a perfect cup of Everyday Tea:-

"Only use freshly drawn cold water, ensure that kettles or water boilers are de-scaled regularly and that teapots are spotlessly clean.

Teapots should be warmed with hot water, which is then poured away.

When making tea use one tea bag per person plus one for the pot.

Water should have just boiled when it is poured into the pot.

Leave Twinings tea to brew for 3-5 minutes and stir before serving.

Pour tea into a cup, add milk, and then sweeten as required."

These days I usually just use a tea bag in a mug. I guess most people do this now. I find that the quality of the water is a big issue in ensuring that you get a good brew of tea. Consequently I only use filtered water at home. Twinings everyday tea does not have a nasty film on the top when it is brewed, unless your water is really bad or your kettle needs descaling. Remember to use only boiling water also.

Of course for every tea lover there is a tea hater but we Brits seem, on the whole, to still love our cuppas. I recommend that you give this tea a try and hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.

Twinings everyday tea is available at most large supermarkets. It is not the cheapest tea but well worth its price.
