Advantages: None at all that I can think of
Disadvantages: Overpowering ginger flavour
Being health concious and trying to reduce the caffine intake thought I would try one of the many flavoured teas that are currently on the market, however, with hindsight I should have picked a different one.
---The packaging---
The one I bought is different to the one shown although the same shape box. Very yellow in colour with a gold band at the top (similar to the one above) with the word Twinings only and not curved. The picture on the box is of a white square place with three ginger roots and a lemon wedge sitting on the plate. Turning the box around on the side there is a part for benifits of drinking this tea saying that ginger has traditionally been used to aid digestion. This is followed by Recommentations and brewing instructions, in other words how to make a cup of tea using these tea bags.
---opening the box---
A perferated strip runs around three sides of the box and you just need to start at one side and pull - very easy to open.
---contents---
Tea bags of course - there are 40 of them in the box. Upon opening you can smell the lemon and ginger which is quite pleasant.
---taste---
After smelling to contents I was really looking forward to making my cup of tea and rushed to the kitchen to boil the kettle and follow instructions on the box of leaving the bag to infuse for two to three minutes. Still looking forward to drinking this as the smell is lovely once you have added the water to the tea bag, or the tea bag to the water depending on personal prefference.
Having sucessfully made my cup of tea, no sweetners or sugar added as do not take this normally in my tea proceed to sit down for quiet 10 mins and enjoy. Upon taking the first mouthful my taste buds are bombared with the overwhelming taste of ginger which is not very pleasant and no real hint of the lemon. OK I thought maybe the lemon kicks in as an aftertaste - how wrong I was. Had second mouthful just to be sure that could not taste andy lemon and I was correct - still no taste of lemon. The rest of the contents where poured down the drain as could not drink anymore.
---The ingredients---
Upon checking the list of ingredients I am not surprised to find that the 1st ingredient listed is GINGER root, followed by lemon grass, lemon peel a few others and ginger flavouring - no wonder the ginger flavour is overpowering.
--My opinion---
Not one I would buy again and now have 39 tea bags sitting waiting for some poor victim to endure. I have had other brands of Lemon and Ginger tea which have tasted far better than Twinings version and I have to say I was very disappointed with this due to the overpowering ginger flavour, great if you love ginger but not for me.
Summary: One to avoid if you really want Lemon and Giner flavour.
