I like tea. Let’s face it, tea is better for you than coffee for lots of reasons. In fact, seeing as you are here I will bore you with the reasons why in the shortest of whiles. First of all, caffeine isn’t great. Like most things, a little caffeine isn’t going to hurt so, say 3 cups of caffeine laden tea or coffee a day shouldn’t be detrimental. However, for insomniacs like myself, it pays to limit the caffeine intake as the former is a stimulant and will cause your heart to race that little bit faster when taken and maybe keep you up at night. So it makes sense to find a drink that won’t stimulate the brain. I’ve always struggled with green tea. I know it’s ... Read the complete review

I have discovered that I have an intense dislike for Green Tea. However, I have also discovered that this dislike is largely lessened when referring to Green Tea with other flavours mixed in with it. Twinings' Green Tea with Orange and Lotus Flower is one mix of flavours that stopped me on my way past the plethora of random tea flavours and made me think. Lotus flowers are associated with purity in China, and have been for a while. This, combined with the herbal and remedial properties that green Tea is purported to have, makes it seem intensely purifying in its intentions. Combine it with the citric and flavoursome orange side of things, I would imagine that ... Read the complete review

Another new year, another new resolve to lose weight. I'm pretty sure that a large proportion of women will start a new diet in January, but for most people it won't last into February. I was determined to start a diet and stick to it, so I decided to sit down and actual plan ways for me to stick to it without giving it up after a week. I thought of some of the obvious things, such as finding recipes for low calorie meals that I would actually enjoy, and have cut out some of my worse vices completely, but I also had another idea: drink green tea. I had read an article in The Independent a year or so ago which talked about studies that suggested that green tea can help to ... Read the complete review

According to Chinese legend, green tea was discovered in 2737 BC by the Emperor Shen-nung when tea leaves from a nearby bush accidentally fell into an open kettle of boiling water. Before Shen Nung could retrieve the leaves, they began to brew. He smelled the sweet aroma of the mixture and found the resulting drink had a delicious flavour. It might surprise you to know that both green tea and black tea come from the same plant, Camelia Sinensis, found in tropical and sub-tropical regions like India and China. Unlike Black tea, which is dried, fermented and oxidised, green tea is not fermented, but only dried and steamed. As such, it is thought to retain greater health ... Read the complete review

The Twinings Green tea range is one of my favourite and I have tried all of the flavours. This review is going to concentrate on the Orange and Lotus Flower green tea. It is described as a lightly aromatic green tea with a delicate scented flavour. This distinctly oriental blend combines the zesty flavour of orange with a delicate hint of lotus flowers, which have long been associated with purity in China. It has actually been since ancient times that the lotus has been a divine symbol in Asian traditions and a symbol of purity. According to an article I read, "Hindus revere it with the gods Vishnu, Brahma, and the goddesses Lakshmi and Sarasvati. Often used ... Read the complete review
