... to the quality of their herbs, and that they are "gently steamed to protect their delicate taste", and in a purely herbal tea, I suppose this is a particularly important factor. I think it's cooled down enough to taste properly now! This infusion is naturally sweet; normally I would add a tiny bit of honey to fruit and herbal teas, but I'm glad I didn't in this case. It's pepperminty as you would expect, but there is a background richness that comes from the nettle, and a slight pepperiness as well. I...more

Premium Review Twinings Nettle And Peppermint Tea: A Pleasant and Refreshing Herbal Tea From Twinings (306 words)

Just waiting for the kettle to boil... ah, there we go. It's always exciting to see a flavour of Twining's that I've not seen before, so I snapped this one up immediately. The immediate smell that rises in the steam is a pleasant, sweet aroma of peppermint. Compared to a pure peppermint tea, though, the smell is broader and richer. This, presumably is due to the presence of nettle. In fact, the contents of each bag is 50% each of nettle and peppermint, and it is rather a nice feeling to be drinking something so pure. Twining's boxes always stress their commitment to the quality of their herbs, and that they are "gently steamed to protect ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tea with a sting (808 words)

Like most people do at some point (apart from the annoying 'genetically slim' people who don't count), I recently came to the conclusion that it wouldn't hurt to start eating and drinking in a healthier manner. After all, Jesus did say that 'Your body is a temple' (or was that Madonna?) and in my case, my body was in danger of becoming bigger than a temple. After considering my options on how to tackle this issue, I decided not to exercise too much as I had heard that excessive strain could cause limb damage. Equally, I considered that radically changing my diet could in fact cause my body to go into shock. Therefore, as I'm sure you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Twinings Nettle And Peppermint Tea: Tea but no pepper?! (727 words)

I have written many reviews on here about 'junk' food and I have stated on many occasion that I'm really quite an unhealthy person as a general rule lol! Occasionally though I do try to give my system a bit of a spring clean and because I drink so much ordinary tea (such as Typhoo etc) I do occasionally have a cut back in that area and try drinking herbal teas for a much needed detox. The problem I have with them is that although I like the concept of them I don't like the flavours of them very much and so my quest week to week continues to try find something palatable to drink! The Packaging.... Slightly different to the review ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review It stings, can it be good for you? (294 words)

Not long ago, I bought a box of Twinings nettle and peppermint tea. As a believer of natural therapy, I have heard of the many health benefits of nettle and peppermint. The stinging nettle which many of us dislike especially when walking in the woods, is filled with many health benefits. It is a well known body cleanser and there are properties in nettle that can help relieve coughs and asthma, counter arthritis, fight skin problems and treat urinary infections. I have tried nettle tea on its own and it taste awful. The dark green tea give out a grassy smell and it looks unappealing. Normally, I would not add any sugar or honey in herbal tea but in this ...  Read the complete review
