Advantages: Refreshing, light and healthy

Disadvantages: No nettle taste and not all that strong in flavour

I have written many reviews on here about 'junk' food and I have stated on many occasion that I'm really quite an unhealthy person as a general rule lol! Occasionally though I do try to give my system a bit of a spring clean and because I drink so much ordinary tea (such as Typhoo etc) I do occasionally have a cut back in that area and try drinking herbal teas for a much needed detox.

The problem I have with them is that although I like the concept of them I don't like the flavours of them very much and so my quest week to week continues to try find something palatable to drink!

The Packaging....

Slightly different to the review photograph but I am reviewing the same product! The box is light green in colour with a picture of drawn on green nettles on there and then in black writing I'm told they are Twinnings 'Cleanse' Nettle & Peppermint Teabags that contain 'All natural ingredients'. At the bottom of the box I'm told the box contains 20 Teabags (caffeine free) and the weight is stated (40g). On the back of the box I'm told a bit about the product, ingredients and nutritional information is given and on another side of the box I'm told a little more about the tea, directions for making the drink are given and there is a bar-code on there. On the bottom of the box the recycle symbol is displayed along with the best before date on there. I do like the classy looking box to be honest. It's unmessy and well thought out and you simply tear the top of the box which is perforated and the bags are laying flat and stacked in the box.

A Bit About The Product According To The Box....

A flavoursome infusion with the refreshing taste of mint.

The sweet taste of peppermint in this clean tasting infusion is perfectly complemented by the naturally sharper, peppery taste of nettle. As it contains peppermint, which has traditionally been used to aid digestion and nettle known for its cleansing properties, it's perfect for enjoying after a meal or anytime you feel like a clean, refreshing drink.

At Twinnings, we believe the secret of creating great taste lies in the ingredients you choose to work with. That's why we've used all natural ingredients and nothing else in our green and white teas and all our infusions. That means no artificial flavours - just the real thing.

Directions For Making The Tea....

Allow one bag per person and add freshly boiled water. Leave to infuse for no more than two minutes to ensure you get a light, delicate, fresh taste.
Always best enjoyed without milk.

My Opinion On The Tea....

Boil a kettle, throw one of the quite large off white coloured tea bags into a cup (or pot if your posh lol) and let the water steep the bag and as directed 2 minutes is enough.

What you get is a hot, dark green looking water that smells of mint but not too strong but the smell is identifiable.

Flavour wise it is fresh, crisp and clean. Not too heavy or minty on flavour and I certainly can't taste anything that makes me think I'm drinking nettles lol. I don't get a hint of peppery taste from that at all.

It's not too zingy or sharp but indeed as promised does taste quite fresh though not as invigorating as I'd expected it to be and in fact it's a rather calming drink which to me is quite a weird thing to say about anything minty but it really is in my view.

Packed full of natural ingredients this is simply a slight and refreshing tea. It isn't sweet, really is best off served without milk and I prefer to let my tea go cool and add a slice of lime.

I like it anytime of the day cos it leaves no nasty, bitter after-taste and only contains natural peppermint and nettle and only contains 2 calories per 100ml!

I bought mine in Sainsburys costing £1.19 for the box but these are available in all good supermarkets!

Summary: A good anytime drink!
