Advantages: Soothing, calming, good for digestion, tasty

Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste

This is a tea which I always keep close by in case of a stressful day at work. I have tried stores own varieties but to my mind they just dont come close to Twinings in terms of the strength and smoothness of flavour and so I am happy to pay a little bit extra for the Twinings name. Quite often you can find them on special offer and I paid £1 for my last box of 20 bags.

In my experience this tea really needs time to develop in the hot (and importantly not boiling) water but then the bag should be removed before drinking or it will continue to get stronger and stronger. To my taste I know the bag needs to be in there about 5 minutes before removing, any less and it isnt vivid enough and any more and it starts to stew.

Apparently you should always use hot rather than boiling water for these kinds of teas as boiling water scalds the leaves and lessens the flavour. I tend to just wait a few minutes after boiling and it works fine.

Mint is supposed to be good for your digestive system and quite soothing on an unsettled stomach. I find this to be true and have quite often had a mint tea when I am feeling anxious about something at work and found it to be successful at aleviating the butterflies, this is why I tend to keep some within reach at all times, its almost like a comfort blanket of a tea to me.

The taste is less minty than you might expect from the scent which is quite strong. The tea goes a dark green colour (dependent on length of steeping) and certainly looks how you would imagine a mint tea to look. Flavour wise, there is a definite minty kick to it but not so strong as to be overwhelming, I think this is why it is quite soothing - its definitely minty but in the way that a well chewed piece of gum is rather than extra strong mint level!

To my mind this is a tea everyone should try, I think for people who have never tried fruit or herbal teas this is probably one to try first as its so easy to drink. I couldnt live without it in my top drawer at work, it is soothing, comforting and enjoyable.

Summary: My favourite herbal tea and a great one for unsettled tummies
