Advantages: A refreshing and cleansing drink

Disadvantages: May not be strong enough for you

As I rambled on about in a previous Twinings review I am deeply in love with peppermint tea! The love affair began about two years ago when due to various factors, age, alcohol and a good curry I began to bloat....delightful! Peppermint tea was the suggested remedy. Now as a hardened normal tea drinker this furrow into the alternative tea market was new to me but guess what? It tasted great and about an hour after drinking my little tummy disappeared too! I was sold and now an experienced peppermint tea drinker my favourite brand is Twinings.

I keep a box stored in work and a box at home, a brief attempt to try cheaper brands failed as they just didn't deliver in the same way and so I know part with my 99p in return for 20 bags about every two weeks. The pack I am reviewing today was brought in Morrisons at the price stated above.

The box is an eye-catching green, with the gold and black Twinings logo encircling the top. The royal stamp exerts its authority and superiority over the supermarket own brand efforts and the image of a crisp, fresh and perfect peppermint leaf pull you promptly in. A large stamp on the front of the box details that the product contains all natural ingredients. All in all the box works for me, simple, to the point but also attractive.

The tea bags themselves are about half full with grass... of course this grass is in fact dried mint leaves and if sniff it your met with the sweet smell of peppermint, not to strong and certainly not overpowering. To achieve the perfect cup simply add the bag to boiling water for three minutes.

**Tea Time!**
The teabag turns the water a deep golden treacle colour, it is see through and looks appetising although in the early stages does go the colour of a certain liquid excrement, that should be a clue to leave it a little longer. When you remove the bag the leaves have expanded and it is now clear from the mint sauce consistency that you have a quality product. What always amazes me is that the scent from the tea is not overpowering but is subtle and delicate, smelling faintly of mint. Once the water has cooled and you begin to sip the taste is prominently minty, it cleanses your mouth and leaves mine feeling 'zing'! Revitalising as the packet says! As I mentioned above I find the digestive effects of the tea to be very good and it does settle my stomach after a heavy meal or a not out. The lack of caffeine and the general cleansing feeling does make me feel more harmonious and like I am doing something good for my body.
If you want to make it a little different add some fresh mint leaves, make sure you cut them up well otherwise they stick on your teeth!

The real winner for me is the ingredients, just peppermint. That really is it. And at only 2 calories is a better for you than milk and two.

Summary: Relax and unwind.....
